Hey that is my favorite road of all time! I dont know if I would say you were "pushing it" but enjoying it for sure!  I have to do that road at least 4 times a riding season or I get withdrawl symtoms.  I was saddened to see they did a half ass job of chip sealing it this last year.  I had loose chip on the north side all the way up to the scenic overlook at Myers Gulch - then old stuff south east of that. It was so loose that I lost the rear tire at least twice in a mile stretch.  There were piles of loose rock in the middle of the road.
