Hey all, I'm doing a ride next weekend to Dallas TX (From Dallas GA) and back. I am looking for a good landmark, inside city limits to use as a turnaround point. Best burger joint? JFK historical site? That type of thing, I want to hear from people with first hand experience and/or locals. Where would you go?

JFK memorial at Main and Market, then cruise through Dealey Plaza along Elm Street, beneath the windows of the book depository, on your way back to the freeway. Bonus points if you run directly over the two crosses painted on the road.

Nah, bonus points for getting off and buying one of those magazines with all the "photos" of autopsy in them.
I actually bought one 12 or 13 years ago just to see them.

Southfork is north of downtown about 35 minuets...

Here's a cool gear place with a lot of stock to try on... north of downtown.

Here's a little "moto coffee shop for the euro gang...

To feed your wild side drop by Feerless's place for a look or frosty beverage, just north of downtown.

Head home through Broken Bow, OK, NW Arkansas and Branson MO to make the trip worthwhile...

Why are there 2 crosses?? President Kennedy was obviously killed but I thought the only other victim was Governor Connolly and I believe he survived the shooting. Did a Secret Service agent get hit/killed?? Is it for the Dallas PD officer Oswald was accused of killing?
Just so you know zooming in and looking at the street from street level there is only one cross visible. Where is the 2nd??
I've never been to Dealey Plaza so I am just curious regarding cross number 2.

For a good burger, try Uptown Bar & Grill or Angry Dog.
+1 on riding over the Dealey Plaza cross as your turn around point.

Actually...

Or something to that effect from 'Full Metal Jacket'

I don't think I have time for a meal like that on this trip. Gotta get in town, and immediately turn back. Possibly time for a burger if I'm running ahead of schedule. I think the JFK cross is going to be a winner as far as what I was looking for.

Thanks for the tips guys. Dealey Plaza turned out to be the perfect spot for this ride. I have an all new respect for you guys that live in TX, the FJR indicated 106-108 degrees for several hours and it was still 95 degrees at midnight! Not to mention you have a special breed of drivers there in that state

Take Dallas's heat and add 90% humidity and you've got Houston. Trouble with TX drivers is they don't know what a turn is. Or, in the case of houston, a hill. When confronted with either, they forget how to drive and cause wrecks. The same holds true for rain, wind, occasional snow, ice or any form of weather other than dry and 1000 degrees. As you can tell, i love texas drivers
