Just got back from a 3000 mile six day jaunt down to deals gap via the mountains in WV and then blueridge parkway on the return trip. As were riding day after day I was curious why some MC folks waved us by ( thank you who ever you are Wink) when we caught up them, and others would not move over ever Thumbsdown. We would have to wait for ever till there was a passing zone and then fly by to pass the group in the allotted leagal space.   On a few occasions even though our pace was brisk I saw headlights in my mirror and we  moved over as soon as we could do it safely, usually in less than a minute. How about you. Do you speed up,  move over , or just keep on doing what your doing . Just curious.

I practice what I appreciate, courtesy & moving over for the faster traffic.
Might not happen often, but I pull to the right when straight appears and signal them to pass.
I won't up my speed to match strange rider's pace.

Once saw a [female] 'Busa rider not pull over for a faster car (... story here) and it resulted in a bit of road rage.
Worked out OK, but it was the rider's 'fault.'

I'll maintain my pace until I can move over, and slow down, when it is safe to do so to provide an opportunity for anyone faster to quickly pass in my lane. I don't like to compromise my/their safety by providing a too risky opportunity to pass.

On one occasion at DG, I did this, which caused us to go through about 6 - 7 corners before I managed to enable their pass, and I followed them as they pulled ahead with better acceleration on the straight sections.

I arrived at a pull-off 6 - 7 minutes later about a minute after they did (they were just finishing removing their helmets). One headed in my direction, and I figured he was pissed because I slowed them up, so I explained what I did before he could start cursing me out. He didn't say anything, but did run his hand over the bottom edge of my saddlebag commenting "It didn't drag!" and then proceeded to tell me he and his 2 friends couldn't have gotten through the section they were behind me in much faster then we did, they thought I must have dragged a bag in a couple of the corners, were singularly impressed that a Concours 10 could handle like that, and thanked me for allowing a safe pass.

And when I took off my helmet, he said "Man, an' you OLD too!!" We had a good laugh and he went back to his friends.

So to the yellow/black GSXR 750 rider from Chicago, you're welcome.

I just keep doing what i'm doing.  I generally ride pretty fast (I am the headlights in your mirror Lol) but would never get in the way of someone trying to pass me.  There was this one time that things almost got ugly out in Cali but that's another story. Crazy

On a straight road, I just keep going straight at my same speed (in the right lane if multiple lanes).  I figure they can pass if they want to, and they usually do.  If they tailgate, I provide more encouragement for them to pass.

On a curvy road, people catch up to me so infrequently that if it does happen, I try to let them pass ASAP.  This usually involves finding a short straight stretch, slowing down gradually, pulling to the side, and waving them on.  I just wish other people would extend me this same courtesy more often!! (because on the curvy roads, I'm usually the one that's doing the catching up!)

I try to move over and wave faster riders by as soon as I notice them and we get to a decent place for a pass.

Right away.  It's so nice of them to run up ahead to check for speed traps for me.  It's a wonderfully kind, self sacrificing service they provide for the rest of us.

You won't pass a Moto Guzzi without a fight. We catch so much flac on the innernets for being slow, that when we finally get out on the road, we're a roiling mass of umbrage and self-righteousness. As soon as we see lights in our mirrors, we wick it up to Mach 9, hugging the inside line like Gibernau wuz supposed to do before he got shellacked. Elbow and knees extended outwards for good measure.

When you finally do manage to squeek by, that's out left foot swinging for your mirrors. When you look in yer mirrors, yes, that's us angrily shaking our fists in yer mirrors. come back and fight like a man, you coward  Angry3

good answer! On my trip to the  Robbinsville, Deals gap area we used FRS radios to communicate. If sombody wanted to pass I would radio my buddy in front and let him know  "We had a rabbit" betwen them and mt radar detector we could safely maintain speeds way above the posted and enjoy it.

As soon as I reach a straight section.  If it's a short section, I'll slow down after I move right so the other rider can get by before the next corner.  This usually leads to my own frustration because the rider will blast by then park it in the next corner because they got on the throttle so hard to pass me.  But if they really are going faster they'll only screw up one corner.

I will take/use my whole lane in the corner because it's safest for everyone.  We don't have X-ray vision, and we can't see what's around the corner.

I've found the same thing but it seems that it's less ego and more oblivion.  Occasionally, we'll encounter an (.) ^  that will try to prevent the pass but for the most part, they just don't seem to check their mirrors or even consider the possibility that someone could want to get by them.  When they realize that there are 3 or 4 of us that want to get by, they'll usually wave us on.  But they need to know we're there first and that's more often the challenge.

On this last trip we got stomped by some guy on a cruiser...going through the viaduct where the speed limit is 35 and we never speed.  This guy was being a tool and I made no special provisions for him because it was a ridiculous place to pass.  He went anyway in a blind turn at the most inappropriate speed and incredibly high volume pipes.  I would love to hear how that story gets relayed to his buddies.   Rolleyes

I don't recall being passed by too many folks but I'd let them by pretty quick as there is room.  2 guys on track bikes went by me on the gap once in the other lane and I never knew they were back there.  They were fast but in an annoying using the whole road kind of way.

I move over if they can just keep up too.  I don't want a race situation developing.  Nothing will make a rider stupid faster than that.

I let everyone pass.

I had a guy on a cruiser (honda) catch up to me in the straights and then brake like hell on every turn.  Eventually, i got really sick of it.  Looked at the gps, saw a good bunch of twisties coming up.  He eventually caught up again on a long straight and i didn't feel obligated to let him pass.  He apparently didn't think it was worth it either since he didn't pass.

I've run emergency lights and had people react by slamming on their brakes in front of me when they notice I've been following them for a 1/2 mile.

We've had fire trucks running full lights, sirens, and air horns stuck behind pick-em-ups with the windows rolled down for miles on twisty roads because the driver didn't notice.
