So whats my odds of making it over the Rogers and Kicking horse in mid march??  Think need to pick up a bike in Calgary (83,1100f) and get it back to kamloops..Buddy is just a silly..hes riding across the arctic desert (wpg) on it, leaving it for me in Calgary and riding home a new one..I suspect he will be colder, but I might not be able to get up the hill without snow tires.....Smile

guess will have to see at the time, maybe  take the #3 if its warmer down there..I really wish he's wait a month, but no guarantee then either I figure.

what ya think??

It is so dependent on the wether that week Nitro it can go either way. There will be a lot of sand on the roads for sure so expect to get muddy and have to stop frequently to clean your visor.

Taking 3 is not warmer as that is Kootenay Pass, which is higer than Rogers by over 350 meters.

You can keep an eye or Rogers Pass here ... http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/bchighwaycam/index.aspx?cam=101

and Kootenay Pass here on Highway 3 ... http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/bchighwaycam/index.aspx?cam=5

+100.  I've been stuck on the east side of the Purcells/Monashees for a few days waiting out a late April snowstorm.  Then again, Zarly and his Hyperspace Conveyance RT went for a little spin to Calgary and back in February before without incident.  Ya just never know so make sure you have a Plan B...and C...and perhaps a D.

I'd say no. The earliest I could get from Seattle to Castlegar last year was early April, and it still snowed on me. Maybe you'll get a good window, but I wouldn't plan on it Shrug

I am headed to Bluepoofs to pick up the DR in early April and that has me a bit concerned for the trip home, though today was +7C here and the melt is on big time. The roads however are a mess with more sand and gravel than you can believe. It has been a heavy snow year here and I bet we are in for a bit more at some point. Still ... who knows?  It could be a record breaking early spring!

Woo hoo ... as I write this I just won an ebay auction for a great little GPS ... that should help me find the back roads out of The Bay area !!!

Hmmm me thinks I recall you riding the Rock Creek road much earlier than that a couple of years back, though I do have trouble remembering last week so I could be mistaken  Headscratch

So .. tell me a bit more about that 1100F ?   Is that the Canadian version or US version ?  The reason I ask is because of the fairing that came standard in Canada that year. IIRC that is an awesome bike.

There are a few ST.N members in Calgary--perhaps one of them would be willing to park the FJ for a few weeks for ya? (that is, if your buddy really wants to ride it from MB in March...)
