Was browsing Autotrader a couple days ago and spotted a Daytona 1200 SE. Noticed it was advertised in about six locations right across the country. Emailed about it and got a reply from a lady, claimed she'd got it in a divorce, no license just wanted it gone. Price was $3300, pretty low but not completely outrageous. Well then she wants to do this through Ebays Vehicle Purchase Protection Plan and sends me an official looking invoice which requires payment by MoneyGram. I forwarded it on to ebay and sure enough, it's a spoof. Bugger! Checked Autotrader the next day and there is only one ad left in Winnipeg, so reported it to Autotrader as a possible scam.
Today, the ad is back up in Edmonton but it is exactly the same description, including series number this time, as a bike that sold on ebay last week! S o I reported it again.

The best thing you can ever remember in this life is "if it sounds to good to be true it probably is".

I've noticed a lot of scams on Trader.ca. Just search for almost any car, especially a nice one. You'll see a private ad for about $4-6000 and it will say "pre-owned" in the first line. The email address is also wierd. Total scam and pervasive.

Yea, unlike buying a pair of gloves, I don't think I would ever slap cash down unless I could physically touch it, hear it run, and do a lean check.

I think if you are willing to send that nice divorcee in Vermont a cheque for 5 grande, you should be ready to loose it.

I tried to sell a bike on Trader and the only phone calls I got were some scammers telling me they were a finance company and had buyers for it and they'd send me a check for more than I was asking and then I would return the difference to them. Headscratch
