Getting There Beats Being There

My wife and her brother are driving from here to Arcata in one day on July 31st.

There's 3 different ways of getting to Arcata from Boise.

1 - via Bend and Grants Pass
2 - via Alturas and Redding EDIT: this is the quickest route
3 - via Lakeview and Klamath Falls

I think #3 is best via cage ... less traffic and more scenic. However, they'd use 140 to 5 rather than 66.

Or do you think they should take 299 from Alturas?

They want the quickest way there with more straights than curves.

#3 is the route I drove my truck in 2003 from Fortuna to Boise (in reverse) although we (wife, daughters and dog) stayed in Klamath Falls.

They're staying in Arcata for 2 nights.
