Anybody I know riding this event?
I am signed up and seem to have lost contact with all that use to ride together on past posted rides here.
I am getting ready to go to the event 8/1 and was looking for old friends.

all my rides lately are short sprints up in the hills when the wife and kids aren't looking
besides a 3 day jaunt coming up in September.
Cheers,

100,000 ft. ride? Does that mean you will be taking an 18.9 mile ride, or that you will be riding in space?

I did it last year....but this year I will be participating in the 48 hour film festival.
Tips from last year-- get there WAY early...like 1.5 hours before kickoff, otherwise all the food is gone. and the line will be short.
Let the crowd by. There are group of riders that blaze up the canyons 110+...just let them go.
Its a fun ride for sure. 500mile day usually.

The 100K comes from adding up the elevation changes to all of the mountain passes you ride over.
REAL mountains, not washed out anthills as found in most of America.

As long as they don't have left over mag-chloride on them. I took a route with that stuff on it with camping gear and nearly had my first high-side.

I've been to a few of the 100k rides, they're ok. More about riding with a group of buddies through some beautiful scenery after you've done a few, then having some good bbq and NOT WINNING any door prizes
That weekend falls on the same weekend as WestFest though, being held in Buena Vista this year.
It'll probably end up being a 200,000 ft ride around the Collegiates on dirtbikes

I've been hoping to get hold of a route sheet for this ride! I emailed the organizer and haven't gotten a response. (sigh)
I'll be in CO in a couple more weeks, and I'd love to be able to rack up those elevations. This year, our local BMW club's year long ride competition is Elevations. Prize to the greatest total achieved, plus highest/lowest single elevation. I'm not sure if I'll be at the top (the club's got a few retirees who blow the rest of us regular folks out of the water on these, usually), but I can be a contender!!
Can anybody help? Not sure if there even IS a "route sheet" but I figure its worth an ask.

route sheet is generally held "secret" until the ride commences (today). should be available from someone who did it and kept their directions.

Mt. Evans is a good destination for gaining elevation on an in-out/deadender road.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Evans_Scenic_Byway
"The Mount Evans Scenic Byway begins at the junction of Interstate 70 and State Highway 103 near Idaho Springs, Colorado and continues on State Highway 5 through the Mount Evans Wilderness Area where it ends near the summit of Mount Evans. The byway is 28 miles (45 km) in length and gains over 7,000 feet (2,100 m) of altitude. Achieving a final altitude of 14,130 feet (4,310 m),
this is the highest paved road in North America
."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pikes_Peak
Pike's Peak is listed as 14,115 feet - just a tad lower than Mt. Evans.
