hey guys quick question.
where is the VIN located on a 2001 R6. i am in the process of acquiring a track bike and the seller is unable to locate the VIN.

At the front of the frame running vertical up the steering/head tube. It will be stamped into the frame. He may need a flashlight to see it clearly but it should be easy to read.

I'd be suspicious of someone who can't find a VIN. Set scam radar to ON.

I have heard from a reliable source that Yamaha has replacement frames available for bikes tht have been salvaged. This bike is a salvage bike. These frames are un-numbered and intended for either track usage or re-build projects. I hope that is the case as I am moving forward with this plan. Obviously if I go to get bike and it appears the VIN has been ground away, well i'm going to walk away from the deal.
Based on telephone conversations, the buyer seems like a good guy. Regardless my radar is alert mode.
