OK.  2010 Nationals should be in or near Deals Gap.  If not right there, then in Cherokee or Pigeon Forge or there abouts.
Just a suggestion, open to discussion.  Thought we would jump in early  Lol

It is scheduled for West Virginia area...didn't know that was near the Gap.

And if it was near the Gap...I wouldn't go...

Canaan Valley State Park made a fine location for the 2006 National. Last year we hosted ESTN 2008 out of the Marlinton Motor Inn on route 219 in Edray (just north of Marlinton) and that went very well too. Lots of overlap in riding area between those two sites, but the MMI was at least $30/night cheaper than CVR.  CVR does have more amenities though.

Woohoo! I'm definitely going to make it next year!

If it were going up for a vote I would vote northern Georgia.  Inlove
WV is nice though.  Smile Thumbsup

I would suggest either Marlinton WVa as Garry has or maybe Sparta Nc which was home to ESTN in 2007 ,it was a good location IMHO
Both had everything we need

Yes, the WV location was quite nice, and I would happily go there again.  If it is there, we will go through Deals Gap first, up through Cherokee and Pigeon Forge, then north east to WV.  But, we got to thinking over beers last nite that the Deals Gap area might make a nice change.  It is only a short days ride from WV anyway.  Just running ideas up the flagpole to see if anyone salutes.

Robbinsville, NC is a nice town with plenty of MC-friendly motels and other enterprises. If we were to relocate to the Deals Gap area, which I think is a good suggestion, Robbinsville would be a good choice.

True, the dragon can be a squidly experience, but the area is loaded with wonderful roads, nice scenery, and good people (mostly). Besides, I bet lots of STNers would actually love to experience rt. 129 as a sort of sinful pleasure.

Robbinsville - no thanks.  Thumbsdown

Marlinton Motor Inn was nice. I would love to visit that part of WV without hurricane-force rain.  Lol
Ray & I stayed in Sparta on the way home from ESTN in WV. We stayed at the same place as ESTN 2007. Still good. Nice size. Wasn't that close to the Snake?

The other Nationals (Colorado notwithstanding) are held in the same place every year - I assumed that Canaan Valley would again be the Eastern National site, especially since it was such a beautiful place with great roads. I personally don't like the idea of Deals Gap for the National Shrug

Good enough.  Thought I would throw it out there.  I loved Caanan Valley too.  We will do a longer tour to catch the Deals Gap area, WV, then east and north up the seaboard to Canuckistan and home.  It will all be fun.

Here's some video evidence of the twisty goodness waiting for you in WV near CVR. For some reason I didn't get any audio on Sunday. I doubled checked connections and figured it was a microphone power issue, but everything checked out fine once I got home. Weird. So you have to listen to some Andy Timmons instead. Note the forest rat scurrying out of the way at about 2:10.

I really liked CVR and would vote to keep it there.  I'm sure i'll attend again and i loved the roads and the resort was pretty decent.

Either one works fine for me.  IMHO, the choice of roads near Marlinton are better.  But ,that may be due to the fact I ride the roads around the CVR area too much.   Lol

Now that some of us have some good dual sport experience in the area, we could plan for both types of rides.
