Ok, here's what I have:

Pipestem's McKeever is $87 for a double up to $127 for a three-room suite.

Canaan is approximately $86

Brier Inn group rates are $69 for one person, $74 for two

Franklin Motel is $50 for a double to $79 for a two room king suite.

You guys get to choose. I'm going to be in Mexico during the national next year.  Bigok

I can provide more info (who I talked to, etc) to whomever finishes the planning if one of these is chosen. Smile

OK, pls displain to this foreigner person what an STN national involves.

How long does it take?

Where is it? Not that any of you seem very sure

How do I insure a bike?

Will I need an international driving license?

How many weapons of mass destruction do I have to bring?

The National is two days long (Tue/Wed). People usually arrive on Tuesday and depart on Thursday, but it's not uncommon to have people add days to the beginning or end. The idea is that you burn a week of vacation which gives you 9 days to work with (including the weekend on each end). That means you have 4 days to ride there, one day to ride locally (Wed) and then 4 days to ride home.

The National rotates between four regions and this year it's in the Eastern US, exact location subject to debate/poll.

I would think a UK license is fine since my US license was fine for me to rent a car while in the UK on business.

Are you shipping your bike to the US or attempting to rent (borrow?) one here? Not many bikes for hire here aside from Harleys, but you might get lucky and be able to rent a Buell from an HD dealer or possibly a BMW somewhere. I think that insurance typically follows the vehicle, not the individual, meaning that if I borrow a friends bike and wreck it, his insurance will cover it. That would also imply that you can buy insurance on a rental bike if your existing insurance doesn't cover rentals (at least that's the way it works with car rentals).

Talk to Snowdog, I think he's in London somewhere.  He was here for the 2005 National in Colorado.  I think he flew into Denver and rented a BMW RT there.

Would now be a good time to take a poll to decide the location? I'd say Canaan Valley Resort, Brier Inn in Lewisburg, and Peaks of Otter?

I can help out with some of the pre-planning again. I just won't be there.  Bigok

The final date has not been set as of yet.  Typically, it's early June.  First we'll pick a place.  Then there is generally a poll on the week.

Stay tuned.   Bigok
