So I get up extra early this AM to make sure I give myself plenty of time to get to work. Roads sucked, lots of spinouts, but 4WD and Nokians are your friends! It only took an extra 15 minutes. Great. I need to speak with my boss and coworkers about an important project we have coming up. I realize I'm early, so I play on the web a bit. And wait. And surf. And wait. tick tock tick tock.
Its now 11:00AM and NOBODY else in my dept has shown up, nor even called in. Grrr!!!:mad2:
Guess how long FlowBee will be working today. C'mon guess.

There's a possibility of freezing rain and snow north of the city today. I quit hours ago and it's possible they'll call out the army to help with the shovelling.

Hi Chump, my name is Chump Jr. Came in at 9am, nobody's here. Not unusual, so I stick around, and I'm still here. So I should go, except I can't. My various managers and bosses are CALLING IN at random points in the day from home, delegating work. So I'm in an empty office until close.
Being bottom on the totem pole sucks.

When in doubt, throw a party. Even if nobody shows up, you'll have a fridge full of beer and your house has never been cleaner.

About 13" down in Waukesha, WI right now (just west of Milwaukee). Looks like we might get a little bit more, but I think it's pretty much done.
Luckily I got to work from home today. Yay! Car is in the garage all nice and dry and free of snow.

Don't underestimate the Canadians. They can muster up a fleet of Zambonii at a moments notice, then blitz their way through the invading hoardes...and leave a smooth, glassy surface in their wake.

That's what I don't get. We had maybe 6" this AM and the plows were cranking at their best.
It was 1-2 of mashed potatos everywhere. On most roads you could cruise at 30-40mph. This was at 06:00.
We've had maybe 9-12" so far, but the freeways are now all clear and wet. (and salty
) The secondary roads are a little slushy and wet, but normal speeds all around. Its 34F and most things are melting / packing down.
OTOH, this is heart-attack snow, folks. Cold cement. So take it easy and give yourself breaks. Let the snow blower cool off a bit and have a beer in between.
The NWS / Chicago media hype machine were hyperventilating about this all night. I think it gave all slackers a reason to blow off work (and me a reason to go home 3 hours early).

Time for a run to the liquor store.
