Akrapovic Evo for SD
«

Just found this site. I've had my Superduke for a little over a year now. Probably one of the best bikes I've had in my 38 years of riding. Just passed 5,000 miles with no issues. I do my own oil changes and such.
Now its time to start changing things. I'd like to put on a set of Akra Evo slip ons. But wow...$1300.00! I'll shop around, surely someone has them for less. To bad KTM has exclusive rights to sell Akra's in the US, kind of limits your buying choices. I was looking at the FMF Apex slip ons but since have gone over to the Akra camp.
I replaced the OE Dunlop's since they are worn down with a set of Pirelli Stradas. I really like those tires. A little less fidgity feeling for my riding style (older, experienced, nothing to prove).
Thats it for now.

SD is a very sweet ride. I love the sound of that motor and new cans will only add to it.
Cheers

I love my Akras.
If you shop around, you can often get the Evos for close to $1,000. Leo Vince and Remus would be some others to consider.

Checked around and the best I can find the Akra's for is $1275.00. so I guess that's what I'll do...but dang that's a lotta $$$'s. I suppose if I want to sell them later I could get most of it back.

Well I finally got the Akra's on the SD. Man what a sound! I'm running the pipes without the quiet inserts. It's not as loud as I thought it would be. A nice deep sound that only gets a bit loud as the revs get into the upper ranges along with a healthy dose of throttle. Cruising at 65-75 mph is totally reasonable.
I did not get remapped yet. Seems to run fine although it does pop a bit on deceleration.
Not suffering any Ducati envy at the moment!
Certainly not as loud as 95% of the Harley's prowling around my neck of the woods.
You really notice the reduction in the heat when parking the bike after a ride. The muffler cans look trick with the CF end caps and hanger straps. Much better looking under the fender with that beautiful "Y" pipe snaking up from the main header and splitting into two pipes to the cans.
Thanks to Airsick for the heads up!

Update on the Akra's. I've ridden the SD for about 500 miles with uncorked cans. Now that the novelty has worn off a bit I'm thinking they are a bit loud.
Well I popped in the quiet insert baffles...and its just a bit louder than stock but you know what? I like them. I was starting to get self conscious with all the noise (no matter how glorious) it was still a bit over the top in town. I was even riding slower to keep the throttle closed. Now if there ever was truth to the "loud pipes save lives" mantra I guess that would be it.
Anyway, I think I'm going to leave the baffles in for now. I still get the weight reduction and the heat reduction.
If and when I do want to get the full effect of this V-twin...60 seconds and the baffles are out. Best of both worlds here.
