Thanks for the heads-up.  I'm still pissed about PA chipping the twisties on Rte. 100 north of US 1 last year; I gave it a go last week on the way home from work thinking it's probably OK now...nope, it's become grooved all to hell.  Thumbsdown

Sorry to hear this.  Angry3
I was out there last fall. Rode all around the racetrack and surrounding area. Lots of nice roads out there. I hope they don't ruin them all.

I rode 345 not long ago and don't recall it being in bad shape (for PA anyway).  Does PA just do these roads on some schedule whether they need it or not?

A little OT, but yesterday I headed home from work and as usual jumped on 82 near my office, heading into PA, forgetting all about that "little" storm we all had the day before.  There were pieces of wood on the road big enough to go on a Texas A&M bonfire, even more gravel and sand than usual, and the occasional mud slide.  I bailed before I got to the PA line.  May want to wait a few days...

Just FYI....  one of the sweet spots on Rt 10 (from Rt 30 to Rt 372) has been grooved for re-paving.  That wasn't a whole lot of fun yesterday....

Glad I didn't have moto - there R greats roads out in this area (as w/ most of Pa)

Was w/ kids in van - went to the good swim hole spot off Rt. 61 (near Hermys)

Rte 641

The truck route has been chipped

The part of 641 west of rte 75 has the edges chipped and of course the first hairpin has a bunch of chips scattered all through the corner.

345 has gotten worse since you reported this and some of connecting roads to 345 are in terrible shape. The Chester county section is is the area getting the chip seal as it clears once in Berks.

143 southbound south of Lenhartsville (SP???) has strips of chip seal that run along the lane at random lengths all over the lane about 3 ft wide.

AND 895 has the same friggin thing, both directions, east of the 183 intersection.  Of couse nothing was done to the horrible few miles west of 61...grr.  It's not impossible to ride on clean pavement all the way through, but it puts you in some awkward lane positions for some of the corners...ie right against double yellow on a right hander.

What's next? flatten 125???

For those of us in the State College area.

Tadpole Rd. from Scotia towards Pennsylvania Furnace was rechipped at some point in time.  Some loose gravel in the center of the lane still.  If you stay in the tire tracks, it's not too bad.

I ran rte 345 and bowmansville rd today (in the car).  I drove off the normal tracks and didn't hear many stones hitting the car.  both roads look good there is some loose stuff in a few corners but otherwise it is ok.

Was just up north of Jersey Shore PA, and they've recently done Rt 44 near Jersey Mills.  Further up, both 44 and 144 had been done two years ago, I'm going back that way in a month and I hope the excess chip has washed away by now.  (got into a brief two-wheel drift on one newly-chipped section of 144 last time!  EEK! )  Also a lot of the unnumbered roads up that way, Hyner Run Rd. among others.

I fear we're going to see more chip seal everywhere now that the state budget is hurtin'.   Sad

863 between 143 and Kistler Valley Rd is VERY bad at the moment, large piles of chips in the center of the lanes. You need to crawl thru it. Luckily, its not a very long stretch.

Must have been chip seal day north of New Holland.
Huyard was done today on both sides of Railroad.
Linden Grove west of Shirk as well. Rolleyes

Looks like I'll be using the southern alternate to bypass New Holland.

Yeah Huyard would be good for such shenanigans, if  I were so inclined.

It must be chip seal season in Eastern Lanco. It looked like they were getting ready to do California Rd north of 23 this morning.

North Churchtown at least the end at Rt 23.
Grrr the best road on my commute home, especially to work on my Smoker imitation, was chip sealed today.
This road was just paved last year and was perfect from Rt 23 to Rt 625.

I will never understand why they would do such a thing.

And what's a Smoker imitation? Do you sit in your garage and smoker cigars and drink beer too?

Smoker imitation involves effortlessly tossing a slightly portly ST bike into a turn with no fuss, no muss and a perfectly clipped apex.
My garage is attached so no cigars, and I'm too cheap to buy the beer I like.
Have a great trip.
