Dudes ..... here I am sitting confined in a "clean room" at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, having just undergone a bone marrow transplant five days ago.  I suspect I will be here two more weeks, at least.  I'v been battling cancer since April 2006, and I finally hope to put my cancer issues to rest permanently, that is, send it back to the pits of hell from whence it came as a result of this transplant.  In the meantime, I have been using my time to shop for my next bike.  I have traditionally ridden BMW's (before they were cool), then switched to a Ducati Multistrada about 3 years ago, which I outfitted for a trip from Savannah, GA to Alaska.  As luck would have it, though, cancer issues brought my Alaska trip to a skreeching halt and I was informed by my oncologist to sell the Multi "since you may not be able to ride again."  POOEY!  Bad move on my part.  Should've kept the bike and gotten rid of the oncologist.  Currently, I have a very keen interest in owning a Caponord, but know very little about them.  For the most part I believe they are underrated and undermarketed.  Therefore, I think that I may be able to located a real sweet purchase if I can find one Left over at a dealership.  I've always enjoyed the odd or unique bike out.  I recall when I rode my Multistrada to the BMW National in West Bend a couple of years ago.  Folks were all over it everywhere I went. I liked that.  My second choice is the relatively new Moto Guzzi Stelvio.  Either the Caponord or Stelvio hits me so good in so many ways.  Therefore, I would like some feedback or commentary from owners of these fine machines, and if anyone knows where there is a Capo or Stelvio available and a deal to be had .... let me know.  My goal is to walk directly out the front door of this hospital and into a motorcycle showroom the minute I am released (in about 2 weeks).

Dudes .... thank ya'll for any information and allowing me to past my time enjoying your postings.

OkeefenokeeJoe,

You can find plenty of Caponord info on Aprilia Forum (AF-1 Racing).  The majority of the posts are from European owners of the bike, you won't see many on the road here.  I have recently sold my '04, bought new, no serious problelms, 25,000 miles.

My feelings/impressions, after it's gone:
This is a BIG motorcycle.  Heavy too.  Maybe a little topheavy, but it feels light once moving. This is not the bike you want for stop-and-go traffic.

Really soft suspension, especially the forks. The forum deals extensively with upgrades.

The Caponord has great wind protection.  Not bad in strong crosswinds, too.

I could ride this bike all day with the stock seat, very comfortable ergos.  I'm 5'-10". The Capo is an excellent touring choice.

The Rotax engine gets great reviews.  I agree.

     Headlights.........go for some auxilliary lighting.

     Brakes, just okay.

The stock tires, Metzler Tourance, are the best fit for this bike.

Aside from the practical, I rode the Capo for 5 years and NEVER saw another one on the road.  A real attention getter.

Whatever your next bike, ride it like you stole it......why not, you're the guy who beat cancer.   Keep going!

I wish you the best of luck in kicking cancer in the 'nads!

There's a new Guzzi/Aprilia dealer in Pensacola, FL.  I was down there about 6 weeks ago and they had a Stelvio on the floor.  Sorry, can't remember the exact name of the shop.
