Ok so I'm going to do a track day with the FJR. I figure to help hedge my bets on not laying it down I will dare I say t-t-t-t-ttrailer it to the track. Where is the best place to tie one of these heavy beasts? I am not inclined to strap the grips.
It sure does not look as simple as my dirt bike.

So what is the hot ticket.

I strapped mine down by the handlebars but not on the grips. I took the straps and wrapped the nylon around the bar with the hooks pointing down,,,then take another strap to attach the 'reversed' strap to the anchor point. Takes 4 straps to complete the job. I've seen straps with a loop on each end that can go around the bar as to not scratch the bars. I anchored tha back of mine as well but just to keep it from moving back and forth.

ps....just to the shop to get the valves adjusted!!  Cool

get a cyclecinch.com - easy on the grips

tie the rear wheel down so that it can't hop around.

I've trailered my fjr that way

I think you can also put some short ties on the front legs, up to the lower triple clamp but I haven't tried that

also run straps from pasasenger foot pegs to a point forward  but leaving the straps not too far from verticle.  compress the rear shock with the straps.  my front straps have come lose twice--I lost the bike once.  with 2 sets of straps, i've not had any issues.

Thanks for the cyclecinch tip.
That looks good. My main concern with hooking to the grips comes from hauling a friends bike and having the trottle tube break from the tie downs. This could have been a fluke. Shrug

the canyon dancer might break your throttle tube. I bought one to bring my zzr1200 home in my pickup and it scare the crap out of me.

The cycle cinch won't break your throttle tube, at least I don't believe it could.

+1 on using to sets of main straps. I'm a dirt biker and could tell you 20 times about bikes falling off the trailer due to strap failure. Almost lost my 750 street bike that way too.

On my dirt bike I use 2 sets of straps on the front and tie the rear wheel down.

On a street bike I'd buy a wheel chock if I was going very far, use the cyclecinch with 2 sets of straps (both quality) and tie the rear wheel down too.

I just towed my FJR 2700 hundred miles on my Kendon trailer using grip ties with no issues.

Used a Canyon Dancer on a 5000 mile round trip-no issues.  Just don't compress the forks down to the stops.  Rear tie point was the passenger peg brackets (Gen I)

Thanks guys. I ended up with a Canyon dancer rig and some fresh quality tie downs. I'll go with the 4 point deal too. I think we'll be fine.

I am pretty psyched to go now. I night away with SWMBO and a day at the track. Don't get much better than that. Thumbsup

Well I made it to the track and back about 8 hours on the road. The bike road great. I decided that the CD rig did little more than cause worry so I ran the trip home with only 2 sets of rear tie downs and the big pig road fantastic.  Smile

I'm leery of using the Canyon Dancer straps as directed, due to anecdotal tales of tubular handlebars bending or rotating in their clamps.  I prefer to attach them around the triple tree instead.
