That is a great idea Ruben.

I wonder how many have ever thought about doing an Iron Butt ride.

I know some have done one only to lose the receipts and ride documentation in that vortex at the bottom your tank-bag or hard-cases.

What a great opportunity for those inclined this coming  spring and early summer.

The Motorcycle Tourer’s Forum is sponsoring the Iron Butt Association’s SaddleSore 1000  (1000 miles in 24 hours) in 25 different states and 39 different cities.

There are 4 dates for the rides, April 28th, May 5th, June 9th and June 16th.

Routes have been pre-planned and certain stops have been verified to allow the validation process to ease the certification of your ride. You still keep the standard gas log and collect receipts but when the ride is over you will have a good idea whether or not the ride is approved.

Some sites are providing an additional route to comply with the new Saddle Sore 1000 category for riding 1000 miles in 24 hours while staying inside the boundaries of a state. You get special swag for the accomplishment.

All the info you need to begin your planning is available at:

http://www.mctourer.com/rides/2007/SS1K/index.html

Check it out.

I did one of these a few years ao. It is a good ride for a novice to experiment with LD riding.

I'll be doing the BBG1500 through the Free Florida Riders on the 24th starting in Kissimmee. I planned on this one before hearing from the others. I already have the SS1000 in the pipeline.

For those of us in Southern California, the Ride for the Heart foundation is also sponsoring a charity ride (500/1000/1500) the weekend of May 5th.

Now, I just have to decide which path looks more enticing.  Smile
