Hey wanna say Hi to everyone, just joined have been reading a few post and figure you all could deff help me.  Looking to buy more of a street bike (own a KLR, and love it) and a dream is to ride long trips so figure here is the place to start.  Have done some solo stuff on my current rig but not much more than a few hundred miles round trip.  No buddies and like to hit dirt and camp so don't really wanna push going far alone. Not a plug to get sympathy friends as I enjoy riding alone and that would be a really lame way to try. Lol  Also two up, wife enjoys as well but need bigger ride for the long hauls I dream of and her bum screams for.

Hi back atcha and welcome!   Bigsmile  From what little I saw of UT around SLC one winter (spent a week there skiing and, honest, never saw much of anything until the drive back from Sundance on the last day, when the clouds finally lifted and the snow stopped) and from pictures, you're in a good place to do some serious riding.

There are lots of threads on selecting the right ride for two-up touring.  I started a Goldwing thread recently although that at the extreme end of the gamut.

Welcome, have fun and ride safe!

Sound like a D-STrom is something you should be looking at.   They are one of the better 2-up bikes from the passenger point of view.  Plus, they're not terrible off pavement.  (That doesn't mean they're good in the dirt)

Yeah one of my choices for sure.  Having a baby in a few and will not be doing much 2 up so I am honestly wondering about a used DL650 and then maybe a trade in and go for the DL1K once the wife is looking to ride.  One of the main reasons is it seems to be the best for any off road use as I live about two miles off a dirt road.  But I guess as long as it is not wet any bike should make it. Lol  But if it is I am  Crazy so a little dirt capability is welcomed, plus if I need to get more involved with trails and passes around here I have the trusty stead.  Thanks for the hellos.
