Where to start, daughter is going to study photography in college. Obviously needs equipment. The Apple store of course was the first stop.

MacBook acquired, with software and all.  Yea ouch..

So now to the fun part. We have been looking for a specific Nikon Camera, but, not any in the state. No really none.

Then I remember about a certain member from the Reg 4 area. He works in a camera shop in Chicago.
I send a PM, an answer comes back.
Phone calls are exchanged, lots of calls.
It seems that camera is in serious want from just about everyone. Almost impossible to find.

This ST.N member spends most of his day calling around, finds the wanted camera. Gets all of the accessories needed for the
Daughter to be ready for classes. Bag, lenses, flash and extra batteries for all.

He sends me the quote, its actually the best we have gotten on our search....
Out to FedEx it goes on Friday afternoon just before 5 pm.

It arrives on Saturday at 2 pm.

Oh did I say that next Sunday the wife and daughter are going to Switzerland for 2 weeks?

The point of the ramble,

Thank You for your Professionalism and Customer Service.

Alot of folks are asking me to name this person.

How about we let the person name themselves.

They know who they are.

does he or his business/employer have a website?
Maybe someone else would like to give him more business??

Very cool that the internal STN network has benefits like this. Very cool.

Thanks, guys- I try to do the best I can for people but I cant claim success every time. I never intended to solicit business here primarily because I felt it akin to spamming. If I can be of help to anybody I'm happy to do so.

I'm happy to bring any (reasonable) business I can to my employer. The store is somewhat of a Chicago legend. My own first camera was given to me there 40 years ago by the current owner's father. If you're looking for simple advice, PM me and or contact me at the store (I'm off Tue/Wed, closed Sun). There is a link to the store's site on mine (No, I dont get paid for any kind of link referral).

Also, don't forget to check out the Camera and Methods thread pinned to the top of the Gadgets forum. LOTS of good info and fantastic photography.

That kicks ass!  Sounds like it got there about as fast as STN Express tm would have.

Nice one, Fred.
