Does anyone have experience with Victory, and their customer service?  From what I read on a Victory board (thevmc.com), it seems that there are a fair number of dissatisfied customers.  FWIW, Wikipedia's entry is not overly complementary, either.

From Wikipedia ...
"Many 1999 and 2000 models experienced serious transmission problems, even in bikes with considerably less than 10,000 miles (16,000 km). Polaris was certainly aware of the problem before production: "...the tranny had a false neutral...The transmission problem is well known and will be corrected on the production models."[from a review in 1998] Polaris addressed design problems with minor revisions to the 2001 models and a complete redesign in 2002. However, Polaris did not correct the transmissions in the 1999 and 2000 models and to date has not supported the owners of those bikes by replacing an apparently faulty design."

Thanks.

Dood, that is from 9 years ago.  Unless you are buying that bike, what's the issue?  Every mfg has had problems.

I test rode a Vision and thought it was great.  Victories have a fantastic standard of fit and finish.

My local Triumph dealer also sells Victory. I don't have tons of experience with them, never rode one, but I've been to a Bike Night or two and most of the Victory people seem happy with their choice. I did find this which says Victory did well in a JD Powers survey:

I test rode a first year Victory (wanted that sport cruiser they offered...you know the one that was ahead of all the other "muscle cruisers")....stranded me a few miles from the shop when the shift linkage came apart. Now, the new bikes have almost NOTHING to do with those first year machines. DIfferent engine, transmission, frames. The fit and finish are very good and I dont hear a lot of owners cranky about the purchase. They dont have a great expansive dealer network so you better be happy with the one in your area. I am certainly wanting to look hard at the new Cross Country...too bad they still arent on board with abs on their bikes yet as an option. You have to give it to Victory to being willing to take a little risk with design and style compared to some in the cruiser world.
