FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 8/5/2009

Back by Popular Demand . . . Aprilia to Pro Italia  Thumbsup

NEW YORK, NY – August 5, 2009 –Aprilia USA, announced today that Pro Italia, one of the foremost sport bike dealers in the country located in Glendale California, has renewed its partnership with Aprilia after a five-year hiatus.

Michael Pham, Piaggio USA Regional Sales Manager, noted "Piaggio and Aprilia are pleased to have Pro Italia, one of the great motorcycle shops in North America, partner with us in representing the Aprilia motorcycle range in Los Angeles. Pro Italia was one of our charter dealers in 1999 and they have returned to the fold convinced that the Aprilia brand, supported by the great resources of the Piaggio Group, has renewed its focus on R&D, customer service, winning in World Superbike, and building great and innovative motorcycles."

Bill Nation, Dealer Principal of Pro Italia noted that "Seeing Max Biaggi aboard the new RSV4 producing a 1st and 2nd place at Brno in a very competitive World Superbike Series is proof Aprilia is a force to be reckoned with in the high performance motorcycle arena, an arena where Pro Italia excels."  Bill continued, "Besides performance and innovation, Aprilia motorcycles have a reputation for reliability and low running costs, two things very important in this economy. With the addition of Aprilia to our current line of other wonderful brands, Ducati and MV Agusta, coupled with our location at the base of Angeles Crest Highway and our unique events aimed at the enthusiast, Pro Italia is the destination for Italian motorcycle enthusiasts."

Pro Italia will be immediately taking deposits on the new Aprilia RSV4 and offering demo rides on the Shiver 750, Dorsoduro 750 and Mana 850 automatic.  With the announcement that Pro Italia will now be carrying Aprilia in addition to other great Italian brands, it seems that Italian motorcycles, great riding roads, extraordinary customer service and Pro Italia go hand-in-hand."

Why did they stop selling Aprilias?

And also Moto Guzzis and Triumphs?

I believe they had issues with the distributor and ultimately punted them. I just thought any good news about a dealer taking on any Italian marquee in our present economy is good news.

I think it's great news.  Maybe they'll also become a Vespa dealer?  (Piaggio owned).  I think that would be great.

Triumph is British so I'm not sure why they ever sold them, and everybody is either getting rid of Moto Guzzi, or just barely stocking them. They don't sell.

Shame because the Guzzi Griso 8V is a knockout bike.  The 4V version is nice, too, but the 8V is as good as anything out there and even won a four bike comparo at BIKE magazine.  I want one.    Cool

No kidding.  The same Guzzis that have been posted on LA Craigslist from over 6 months ago are still there.  Their prices seem correct, but I guess if no-one is buying, then they are too high.  Thing is, you don't want to give the machine away either.
No wonder Guzzi owners keep them for life...

p.s. I'm not knocking Guzzis, I love the Griso.  Just stating an observation.

PI has always said the just didn't like doing business with Aprilia, too much of a hassle.....
I bought my Futura from them back in 03 and mentioned then they really didn't like the Italian way of doing business......
However it looks like I need to pay a visit sometime soon....

I think they must have meant they didn't like doing business with Piaggio, seeing that PI sells Ducatis, MV Agusta etc.  So they can't have too many issues with the Italian way.

My local Yam dealer also used to carry Aprilias and Moto Guzzis and dropped them because they couldn't stand doing business with Piaggio.

In 03 Piaggio really wasn't with Aprilia yet. When the Italian factories all shut down in Aug/Sept, it makes for a very challenging business practice. PI didn't like how the warranty worked either, some would go though and others wouldn't and so on.... I think Piaggio streamlined alot of stuff as to not make parts so unavailable.
