I picked up this bike a couple months back. It is registered for the street and fully insured but not "street legal". I'm looking to make it legal on the cheap for the occasional road crossing and "street legal only" areas. Brake light, turn signals etc. I've read about several people just sticking non working turn signals on and a working brake light (works for rear brake only). If I decide to get another set of wheels for easy street only conversion, I'll go ahead and spend the $ and do it right. For now I just can't see spending the extra $.

Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks, Fred

Baja Designs makes a good kit.  I use this on my 400EXC.

Sicass Racing

Procycle

I like these two places because you can buy just the parts you want and don't have to spend the $$$ on a full kit. Sicass has great customer service.

Before you spend any money, you might want to verify that you can register it for on-road use in your state.

In GA (and other states), the manufacturer's certificate of origin can't say "for offroad use only" (or whatever the MSO actually say) anymore.  The only exception to that in GA, AFAIK, are bikes that were already registered prior to the change in law.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Fortunately the previous owner already took care of this. When I  transferred the registration I didn't have any problems. Came back all legal and I hope it stays that way.

Thank you all so much for the advise and links. Looks like just around $200 will get me fairly legal for what I want to do in the near future.  Fred

KTM's and Husky's don't have this on their titles.  There's a loop hole in the EPA regs that allows them to get away with this. Smile

Not all of them. Some have "For Offroad Use Only" on the title...and the next same model of the same year will have "motorcycle" on it.

Sicass has great customer service

+1 I bought my kit from sicass mainly because they're local and support my club. After install, I had issues and they stood by 100%
