OK now that I have broken my tib fib about 4 in above my ankel I'm thinking perhaps I should invest in a better set of boots.
My Oxtars so far have been great but I'm wondering if there is anything out there that is just as comfy but has more shin protection?
What are your thoughs and suggestions?

And yes I will be skydiving again come the spring of 10.

God don't get me started! Most of these guys don't even wear lids! Let alone proper foot gear.
But that being said I don't think boots would have helped me much. It was a rotational injury caused by the inside of my foot just grasing the ground.
The woman the day after me who crashed face first into a berm and a few weeks later into a hanger walked away with out so much as a scratch.
So go figure!

Any hooo.....so now I guess I have to protect my shins from impact while riding. What would you suggest?

BTW I found a pair of Sidi Vertigos for about $200 a couple months ago there but they're sold out, looks like.

What Oxtars do you have right now? Do they have hard shin armor? I really liked my Oxtar Matrix boots, which have a hard shin plate. I believe they now go by the TCX X-Five name. That's a pretty low key boot. You can get more protection by going to race style boots - what's your style preference?

Thanks 1K! Those Sidi boots look amazing!
I'll have to try them on though. Right leg i'm told will be a bit funky for a while.
But thank you very much!

For medium priced street riding boots, the Sidi B2 is darn good.

If you have a low arch and relatively narrow feet. The Sidi Mega series is seriously wide - the best fit I found was TCX's (which is too bad; I liked the B2's a lot for features).

Yep, footwear doesn't always help. When I broke my leg skiing it was way down inside my ski boot, just above the ankle bone. That was rotational too.

I believe in gear, good gear but why do boots have to be so gaudy?  Plain ones should preform with equal protection.

I'd been "meh" about my Vertigo Tepors but after learning I can re-sole them for $30 (including new soles) think they're great  Bigok

BMW has a very nice-looking racing boot that came out this year (and aren't too expensive) but they're not waterproof if that's a concern for you.
