Did my first SS1000.  Physically it was about what I expected.  It was a little harder mentally.  I did a very simple out and back on slab.  1060 miles in 17 hours.  I'll do the paperwork this week.  If it goes thru, I'll do a better ride next year.  Maybe Lake Michigan.  I think the simple slab ride made it harder mentally.  I didn't know what to expect, so I tried to keep the physical challenge down.

My first documented SS1000 was up the PCH.  It took 23 hours and 57 minutes to cover 1006 miles.  Because the route was one that demanded attention, sleepiness and boredom simply weren't problems at all.

I wanted to get one under my belt.  Next one will not be a slab out and back.  Maybe a Lake Michigan run.  I went from Peru, IL. to Grand Island, NE. and back.  I mailed the paperwork on Friday the 28th.  It just happens to be the busiest time for the IBA.  Busiest time of the year and they have the rally.  So we will see how long it takes.  Everything went well except my low beam burnt out 15 miles from home.  Sorry folks, it was high beam or nothing.

Congratulations.  Beerchug

I think you will enjoy the LM1000 a lot more, especially if you include M22 and the tunnel of trees into it.

I did M22 (aka tunnel of trees) on a 2 day trip over Memorial day weekend with my riding buddy.  We went counter clockwise.  Everything from Traverse City to Escanaba was wonderful.  I hope to do another weekend ride around the lake, this time with the wives.
