I believe the Brutale is the most beautiful motorcycle made today.  I envy your test ride Chris, I would LOVE to ride one sometime.  

I'm sure bob would have let you ride it at Clearfield that year.

I-4s are boring pieces of machinery with no character or soul and have no business in Italian motorcycles!  Even Aprilia knows that.  Though it makes 4 cylinder mills, at least they're in a V format!

I rode a friend's Brutale... quite a ride. Quite a ride, indeed.

Well, excuse me for my meager reading skills. I will go and practice by reading the owners manual for my Brutale.

Its warm enough here to still ride the Brutale when I am not going to reading class. I graduate from reading class in December but it will be too cold to ride the Brutale and I can start bashing Harleys in January. Using all my new reading skills to read up about Harleys so I can be a good basher.  I have seen a few DIs just like Warren Oates. They made Stripes while I was stationed at Ft. Knox.

I have heard a rumor that Bombardier Recreational Products may be in talks to purchase MV Agusta from Harley Davidson. Bombardier Recreational is privately held company (Family owned) by the same people who make trains & jets here in Canada & abroad. (The other parts of Bombardier are public companies).

BRP own the Bombardier, Ski Doo and Lynx, Sea Doo, Rotax, Evinrude & Johnson boat engine names. The family has very deep pockets and I am sure could raise the cash needed for what will no doubt be a firesale price on MV. They have been around since 1959.

Here is the thing. Bombardier is very well versed in doing business in Europe, and the MV line would be a perfect addition to their product line. Not to mention that they have a pretty strong world wide dealer network of 5000 dealers world wide.

Unfortunately I have not been able to find any press releases that confirm or deny the rumor, and BRP is a private company, they really don't have to divulge much.

Ok, so it's now officially out.    There are indeed 2 new Brutale's.
990R
and the 1090RR.  
Biggest diff being displacement, and 1090RR having more adjustable suspension, and a steering dampner. Along with paing schemes.
Pricing seems reasonable at $15,000 for the 990, and $18,000 for the 1090.

But the question remains...

Has anyone actually had the chance to ride one yet???

Actually looking forward for someone to "accidentally" run into me so I can upgrade from the SV.

i can honestly say it outshined the F4 next to it... pictures don't do it justice at all.
(made the ducs around the showroom seem lame)
i'm telling you, i don't know what it is, but it's rare to find myself smiling while looking at a bike nowdays.
one thing that stayed on my mind was the shape of the seat, interestingly orthogonal?

Seriously thinking of the Brutale 1098 as a second bike to my 2007 Moto Guzzi Norge. Steelhorse Classics in Williamsburg is a great dealer; they have a Brutale as their demo! So I'm thinking of either the Brutale or the Griso 8v...and hope to be able to do light touring on either.

The reason I posted somehting here between Grison & Brutale is that, if I post on either the Guzzi site or the MV Agusta site, I'll get mostly fanboy responses. Curious what y'all think here.

2010 MV Agusta Brutale 1090RR:   MSRP:  $18,000.00   Normal OTD price: $19,315.75  Your OTD price: $16,777.  Savings of:  $2538.75
 
And, as another alternative, the 2009 black Griso in the showroom is still available for around $12,500 out-the-door.

I think between the Griso and Brutale you should be able to choose - they are not exactly identical in performance, specs or feel.  I would go Brutale because they are that much more special, faster, powerful, lighter, and higher performing than the Griso.  But if you are looking for shaft-drive and more of a power-cruiser effect, then of course the Griso is the choice.

There are some leftover '09 Brutale 1078RR's on Cycletrader for $15k, and new '10 Brutale 990R's for just under $13k.  But if it is no problem to spend the extra for the 1090RR, I think you'd be quite happy.
