More spy shots for you this week as Motociclismo snapped shots of what appears to be the 2010 MV Agusta Brutale lapping around the Almeria Circuit in Spain.
It looks like both the 989RR and 1078RR were doing their testing duties on the track, and the photos reveal a new trellis frame design, possibly a new motor configuration, along with come other cosmetic changes to the current models.
Most noticeably, the headlight seems to have gotten a revision, but still keeps a shape similar to the current headlight design. It’s hard to tell from these photos, but it looks like MV might have installed a projector beam setup in the top half of the housing, leaving the bottom half in its current form.
The motor also looks like it has been rethought, with new casings showing clearly in the photos. The oil filter also looks like it has been repositioned. As far as we can tell, displacements are set to stay the same for 2010, but that could change as we edge closer to EICMA. We’ll let you know if we hear anything on this front, but since its a major change, it would seem logical that we would have heard it by now.
Regardless of what comes out of the woodwork displacement-wise, the smaller displacement Brutale seems set to have standard radial calipers, whereas the larger displacement Brutale is shown clad in Brembo Gold radials. Other higher-spec components are also likely to be found on the 1078RR replacement, to help distinguish from its cheap counterpart.

I can't tell a big difference apart from the third-eye cycloptic headlight.
That site has a great iPhone format btw.

So can we still get these? Or since Harley dropped the bomb is these just fantasy for 2010?

Most likely yes, they will still be available.
Here is a related article -
http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/mv-agusta-claudio-castiglioni-post-harley-davidson/#more-5638
Here is President Castiglioni's words:
“We are preparing to put up a great show at EICMA in Milan this year, where MV will unveil two new bikes. It would have been better for us had this news [of Harley’s decision to sell MV] come out later. But I am told this news had to be released immediately due to the requirements of the American Stock Exchange. But, perhaps, it’s just as well. MV is a strong brand, loved by all. The bikes that we will present at EICMA will be even more appreciated.”
Unlike Harley, the Italians are more concerned with biking then the stock exchange.

the 1090RR Brutale looks very nice in white. You really can tell the difference between the older Brutale and the new unless they are side by side.
The Brutale 1090RR is a comfortable bike, that would be my choice of any of MVs
From what I understand, MV is not being shut down...just sold.
Later.

Yeah...true...(sigh) And somehow I get the feeling that the CEO of MV Agusta actually rides motorcycles, unlike the new CEO at Harley
At least MV is being sold (yes Prubert, MV will be sold, not shut down--Buell should be sold too, but...).

My buddy and I did 200 miles yesterday on our Brutale 910Rs. They are about as much fun as you can have with your pants on. In over 30 years and 300,000 plus miles on sportbikes on the street and track, the MV is the most fun bike I have ever rode and I ride bikes for the sheer fun of riding them.

Is it just me on the following point? Is it wrong the Brutale isn't a twin like all other Italian bikes. How will it have character?

The old world craftmanship of a trellis frame makes a perimeter frame seem like a lump of metal in comparison
kinda like a battery powered quartz watch compared to an exquisite automatic time piece

MV Agustas are not twins like other Italian bikes. They are inline four cylinder motors.

Reading comprehension: it's all the rage.
I rode a friend's Brutale... quite a ride. Quite a ride, indeed.

Really? Despite the fact it has a boring I-4?

It was on the way to the '07 Burger run. We turned that trip into about 400 miles of twisties getting there. I spent about an hour on the bike. When we stopped to swap back, I climbed off very, very reluctantly. I believe I said something like "It's a good thing they're expensive..." and wandered away not really knowing what I would do for the rest of the day.
I like I4s just fine. I'm not one of these "It's a twin or nothing" guys. I just really like the flat torque curves that twins typically deliver over the typical "peaky" I4 delivery.

They are priced rather competitively for what you get. The research I did indicated they are very well put together. However, I was a bit concerned with maintenance costs that I found from owner feedback, and also having only 2-dealers in the whole state.

One of which is Fast by Ferracci.... which is synonymous with "leave it, we'll eventually get to it and if it's racing season, fuck off. thanks. And no, we won't call."

In fairness - anecdotal. I know two guys who bought from them, and that was the general indication I got from them. They may be the exceptions.
Grain of salt and all that....

BTW, I'm only tongue in cheek about the I-4 v. twin comments (keep up)
.
I believe the
Brutale is the most beautiful motorcycle made today
. I envy your test ride Chris, I would LOVE to ride one sometime.
