My '05 Ninja 250 will be arriving around 2100-2200 PST tonight at the 2nd checkpoint.

Is there anyone at the checkpoint that can give it a once-over, before the 3rd leg begins? My two major concerns are that the chain is adjusted (it had only 500 miles on the chain/sprockets in St. Charles IL) correctly and that it is lubed.

My top case includes all the tools needed to loosen the rear axle and adjust the chain, including cotter pins if the current one breaks. I also have chain lube in the top case.

The rider, Barry Bertram, would appreciate the help as he may be a little fatigued by arrival time. To stay within IBR rules, he'll stay with the 250 while you look it over, so that there is no advantage to the assistance.

I can provide you with more detail off-list.

Regards,

Michael Hickman

I am here in Santa Ana at the check point, and have tools.
Look for the crapy old GMC S15 in the underground garage.
PM me for a room number

Hi Andrew,

I'm in OK, not at the checkpoint. If you happen run across the silver 250 in the rider's area, that'd be appreciated; my communication with Barry has been spotty, at best. Just look for the 3/4 'Matchbox' size touring bike!  Lol

So Berry is bailing on the 250 he picked up at CP1 and is now planning to move to his 4th bike of the Rally?  EEK!

Is there a award for the most bikes ridden during the IBR?  Crazy

Barry is still riding my Ninja 250. I just wanted someone to look over it before he began the last leg.

I did see a Ninja 250 silver in the underground parking last evening, the chain looked good to me. Being that the ridge was not there I did not want to do anything except look.

Andrew, thanks for looking over the bike for me while you were there.

Barry is still going strong, he's headed West across Canada at the moment.

That was an awesome showing by Barry. If he does this on a proper bike, he's going to be a hell of a contender.
