So you want the CB1300 just like Schneegz?  Fine.  Some of us don't.

Just go buy a Versys and then go to your local sporting goods shop and buy two 45lbs dumbells and strap them to the bike... You now have a Deauville  Wink

I'm with Schneegz on this... The Deauville will be a showroom paper weight, it's not going to sell well.  If I want a 567lbs bike I'll buy a ZX14 (and I did) If I want a "lightweight tourer" my 567lbs ZX14 doesn't fit the bill, so why does the 562lbs NT700 (569 for the ABS version)?  It's NOT a "lightweight" tourer. It just isn't. Now I know my ZX14 does weigh 5lbs more than the Deauville, but it DOES hold 0.6 more gallons of gas.  Gas is about 6lbs per gallon so that means that the good ole ZX14 with the same amount of gas as the Deauville is only about 2lbs heavier.

Okay, so you don't want a "big bike" like the ZX14, well the V-strom 650 ABS is 485lbs gassed up ready to ride and it too holds 0.6 gallons of gas more than the Deauville.  So 84lbs lighter, with more gas and $3000 less than the ABS Deauville.

... and one more important thing, if a ZX14(or VFR, or Sprint ST) is too heavy for a female rider why would they choose something just as big and heavy as one?

Dave, I've owned a VStrom 650 since 04, the first year out; its my main bike.  I understand.  I'm just saying that this Honda might be enough for some of us old fogeys who don't need all the power and extra weight.  It would be more attractive if it had 20 more bhp, sure.  But it probably has enough to perform its intended purpose.  Just my .02. I've been saying ever since I started riding that if they ever brought the Dullsville to the States, I'd be first in line to buy one.  I've taken a long look at how I ride, how good I am, and what I use a bike for.  I would like to buy this bike.  It fits the bill so perfectly it's eerie.

But not $10k eerie.

I would like to see 650/1000cc versions like the V-Strom set up, though.

I will say that I wish there were MORE bikes that came with integrated hard luggage like this. Hell, ANY GT bike should have it as an accessory. Even small ones ala' the Corbin Beetle bags, that truly integrated would be awesome. increase the functionality of any sporty bike without ruining the lines.

Allow me to direct you to my previous post on those very same arguments.  If time proves me wrong, feel free to say you told me so, but I doubt that'll happen.

Funny thing is my post never said the nt700v will be a huge runaway hit.    The vfr has never sold in huge numbers here in the U.S. and yet it's still being sold here.    The vfr you buy in London is the same vfr you can buy in Kansas or Japan for that matter.   It's a global bike so what you call a 'sales flop' here in the states isn't necessarily a failure when viewed globally.    The same will hold true for the Deauville or as it will be known here the nt700v.   Honda has continued to grow over the years and believe it or not they do know a thing or two about what is best for them.   The numbers may be small but the thing will sell.   Again, think global sales.

Like it or not, it's coming to a showroom near you so stop whining and move on to a brand that suits your business acumen.

I don't get it.  What does this bike offer that the V-Strom 650 and Versys don't for thousands less?

Shaft drive and factory-integrated luggage.

The price is a bit high, yes.

But the bike makes sense on its own; price aside.

This is a great post and is so typical of the demographic here. "Bring that bike here please! I love it and will buy it"..."wait, that's too expensive...lower the price"....then it's "I can find a used one for really cheap".... Lol

That's the trouble with appliances and is why nobody wants to bring their mainstream bikes here. It's a pretty dull bike but is extremely practical. Unfortunately those of you who want a practical bike are also practical with your money (read: cheap). It's a catch 22 to be sure.

Well, to be fair, my finances have changed a hell of a lot since I last said I'd buy this bike.   Lol

I don't think $10k is too unreasonable.  But I do think it's a little unreasonable.  I mean, it's a Honda.  Does it talk or something?

So Honda knows a thing or two about what is best for them like, say, the 599, which was a miserable sales flop in the US?  Either way, you're missing my point so badly I'm beginning to wonder if it's on purpose.

For about the same money you can buy a 1050CC triple Triumph Sprint ST which weighs just about the same. The only thing you give up with the Sprint is the shaft drive. Everything else is way upscale on the Triumph versus this bike.

Say 599 and global sales in one sentence.   There, I knew you could do it.

Honda is a BIG COMPANY that sells bikes all over the world.   You really have to stop thinking the U.S. market will make or break Honda, it hasn't and it won't.    GLOBAL.
