The Deauville is not the VFR.  The Deauville should appeal to all those folks that loved the K75.
The perfect mid weight commuter/tourer.  Run forever with little maintenance.  I'd like one!

I'm so glad to see this bike coming to the U.S., I definitely think there's a market for it, yes it's a bit pricy, and it's definitely ugly, I mean real ugly!!, but just as I've decided to live with the ugly looks of my ST1300, I think many will also decide function is more important then looks.

So many times I've been approached by folks interested in my ST1300, and many of them are either too short, or just too small to handle the weight, and not to mention all the post we read about ST or FJR owners who because of injuries or just because of getting older, need a lighter bike, I always tell them about the Deauville and say it's just too bad they don't sell it here, it would be perfect for you.

I think a V-Strom also makes a nice touring bike, but in the Deauville you get factory hard bags, shaft drive, and I don't care how much you save on a V Strom, chain maintenance is a pain in the butt, better wind protection, oh and did I mention SHAFT DRIVE!!  thank you Mother Honda, now just bring us the Transalp and bring back a Street legal  XR650R!!

I can envision in the near future  seeing the guys on the bigger ST bikes, being followed by the wives on the Deauville.

Under powered as it is, over priced as it is, ugly as it is, I still think it has it's place in the us market, is it for me? no, but is it for my neighbors wife who wants to ride her husbands FJR but cant , yes it probably is. and to me, shaft drive is worth thousands, sounds crazy, but after 40 years of cleaning, adjusting and changing chains and sprockets, to me it's Priceless!

60hp and just shy of 600lbs wet?  Wrong direction.  Crazy  If a bike is low on hp, it better be light.  I can't see this selling in the US.

I don't get it.  What does this bike offer that the V-Strom 650 and Versys don't for thousands less?

Built in luggage, shaft drive.

I like it.  I always thought a shaft drive 'light' weight touring bike would be a good thing.  This reminds me of the old Honda Silverwing (not the scooter).

Yeah, it's not going to be fast, but it's not meant to be.  Kinda like complaining that Harley touring bikes aren't fast.

Luggage you can't remove is a plus?  You can buy luggage for a V-Strom 650 or a Versys and still save thousands.  Shaft drive is a plus, but is it worth that much more?  I think not.

Dude, if 600lb is "light", Rosanne Barr is a supermodel!  Lol

Yeah, it's not going to be fast, but it's not meant to be.  Kinda like complaining that Harley touring bikes aren't fast.

Who cares if it isn't fast?  If a bike is slow and tub-o'-lard heavy it should at least be inexpensive.  This ain't.  Which is why I'd never buy a Harley either.

I'm digging it. I'm sick of 500+ lb. ST's. Ok, so this one is in that classification but it's alot lcoser than monsters like the C14, FJR, etc. Who wants a 650 lb. SPORT tourer? Not me- keep your 150 HP & electric windshield.

I agree, but I understand that not everyone wants/needs the same amount of excitement in their riding.  Me, I'll stick with ~110hp and ~500lb wet.  The advrider thread on this news has some good input from European riders who are more experienced with the bike - not all of it is the best news regarding maintenance and finish.

Btw - the thread title that this is the "new VFR" was tongue-in-cheek.  Hopefully Honda will make a strong showing with their new VFR1200 at one of the Euro shows this fall.  But if they don't, then yes this might just be the most new model excitement Honda has in store for the US in 010.  We shall see.

And you wonder why they still have them on the floor to sell???
Keeericest, they sound like the sales guys at the first motorcycle dealership I went to get my VFR. That store closed long ago.

Heading out to take Glen and Karrine out for a little test ride jaunt.
I'll report back later.

1/ yes
2/ Light weight compared to other shaft drive touring bikes outside BMWs
3/ This is a site seeing touring bike, not a racing bike.  It's for enjoying the scenery and being part of it, like Harleys.

Hey, if you don't like it don't buy it.  It's funny how people get so riled up over something they are not going to buy anyway!

I am with Baz on this one.  Even though I am a Honda guy, I don't buy it.

Really, some of you are interested in the NT700V?

Is the current VFR not underpowered enough for You?

Really, someone would buy this thing just because it's a "Honda"?

What is new and exciting about this lump?  It looks to me like another recycled Honda design.

Umm. this one is not ahead of its time.  Crazy

Honda's finally starting to get back to what made them famous here in the states.   Well made comfortable economical machines that are practical for everyday use.   There is no bs about this thing, it is what it is.   No pretensions of adventure touring or super hero status, just a practical mount for commuting, running errands or a weekend getaway.
