There's a swimming pool in my garage

We have a large garage and my Dad bought his plus sized girlfriend a pool with a motorized current generator to get her to lose some wieght. (Don't ask)   I have no other place to keep my bike so I need to do something about the humidity generated by the water.

Does anyone use a type of bike bag or know of something maintence free to keep my bike safe? I've searched around for a few but wanted a second opinion from ya'll.

Swimming is not a good way to lose weight, as the body loves fat for buoyancy.

Walking (working up to running) is much better.

Indoor pools in spaces not designed for them are a real problem:

If you are using chlorine for the pool, get the bike out of there.  With Bromine, you can wait until the weekend  .  
The fan proposal won't work because the air in the garage will be too moist.  In fact, everything in the garage is at risk.  Indoor pools need active moisture control or else everything will be subjected to the dew point of the surface temperature of the pool.  If the pool is heated, it will be worse.  A future of mold, rust and rot awaits you.

Oh, and if you have a water heater or furnace in the garage that uses the garage air for combustion with Chlorine or Bromine in the water, you will rot out the heat exchangers in under a year .

Now if someone installed a 100% outside air supply fan with a matching exhaust system and a source of heat, that is a different matter.

These come with large discant bags for absorbing moisture while the bike is in the bag, but considering how wet the bag would be to start with ( laying out while you ride, and wait for the bike to cool off ), I do not know if this would work long term.

Maybe if you have a secure outside location for your bike ( behind the garage ) use the bag or better yet a bike barn with a concrete mounted lock base for locking it down ?  There are more expensive metal ones that have a lock on them.


Look at it this way, once the garage is rotted all to hell from the moisture inside it, you can build a new garage with a separate 1 car bay for your bike.  Just make sure it has moisture proofing to the next bays, both wall and ceiling

swimming is a great way to lose weight, as long as you include a healthy diet.  I started swimming after I hurt my foot and couldn't walk or jog for exercise anymore the doctor suggested it.  I thought it wouldn't do much good, but gave it a try.  I lost an average of 8lbs a week by swimming 1 hr per day 6 days a week.  I also learned to swim much better.  I just wish I could get one of them fancy current tubs to swim at home.  It was also surprising how much stronger my shoulders have become.

It's a safe and convienient place to keep it, not to mention more tools and gadgets than you can shake a stick at.  I just need a way to keep the humidity away from the bike.

If you live in a safe area, keep it outside under the "bike barn" or in a shed.  The moisture is going to kill your bike.
