1150RT Brake issues

I was on the way home today when I grabbed the front brake lever and not much happened, very exciting. After I pulled the seat cover out of my behind, the brakes started working again, but the failure light is flashing. the bike is and 02 RT1150RT with ABS. How badly adm I in trouble. I have really loved this bike but I can't out too much into her right now, any ideas what I am into?

Could be a major as a bad servo, or as simple as a bad or just a wheel speed sensor.
I think also low voltage form a dying battery or a slipping/ worn alternator belt can cause ABS system fauilure.
Perhaps some others will chime in.
