I have $500 to spend on the bike and am trying to decide which to do first.  Racetech suspension goodies to set the new VFR (new to me 06) up for my weight, Givi Luggage, or Convertibars (settled on these over the heli-bars due to level of adjustability).  Which would you do?  Other option is a seat, but I'm not sure that's as big a priority right now...

I do have a Dowco tailbag, so I'm not luggageless...

No question, the bars.  They will enhance your enjoyment of the new bike immediately.

That's what I was thinking too, but I weigh 350 lbs, so the suspension upgrades would be very noticeable.

hmm.. if your 350, the suspension mods might be a better idea Smile  That is well above the "average" that stock suspensions are set up for.

They transformed several standard damping rod bikes I've done and owned over recent years. In your case, respringing and better oil would help considerably... the nicer valving would just be a bonus.  Thumbsup

Looks like I can only afford the re-spring - front and rear.  That's probably the best money I can spend anyway.  It will be nice to have a bike sprung for my weight.

definitely going to need the suspension as the VFR seems designed for a 150 lb rider.

You could try these"
http://www.hyperprousa.com/catalog.php?cat=Springs&make=Honda&model=HONDA+VFR+800+Fi+V-TEC+with+ABS+02%3E&model_name=HONDA%20VFR%20800%20Fi%20V-TEC%20with%20ABS%2002%3E&springtype=COMBI-KIT

They will ask you what you weight and how you ride (w/o luggage, passengers, etc.)

I've got them on my VFR, and they cover the huge range of riding I do (solo - 265lb to 2-up + luggage - about 615 lbs).
I believe they also have valves as well, but you would have to check if they have them specifically for your bike.

615 Lbs.. doesn't that much weight push the bike over the max GVWR?

lets see 265 + 45 (luggage) + a 305lb passenger.
Yeah 615 is pushing GVWR, but what am I going to, I need to transport like this sometimes.
