World Superbike starts this weekend, and the other series will start soon, so its time again for my favorite thread. Please don't put race results or particular details in thread titles as many ST.Ners have busy lives - and some are actually out riding on weekends - so they choose to tape or TIVO races and watch at a later date.

How NOT to title a thread with results:  OMFG Rossi Crashed on the last lap!!!    That midget Pedrossa Wins Again!!!11!!     Ducati wins MotoGP!!!
How to correctly title a thread with results:  Qatar WSB Results **SPOILER**  or   **SPOILER** Daytona 200 Results

BTW: Starting a thread in a manufacturer subform or in Pit Row stating how a particular rider/bike/manufacturer finished or did not finish - no matter the finishing position - is still considered a spoiler. Please show consideration for other race fans on this site.

Suggested arguments for this thread:

-I'll post anything I damn well please. Who made you God?

-But I posted the results in the General Discussion/Ducati/Yamaha/OT/Members Only forum so that should be OK.

-Does posting the results somehow make the race less exciting to watch?

-Wouldn't you want to know who crashed on the last lap ahead of time?

-It doesn't matter because my favorite brand/favorite rider/rider of my nationality didn't win and all those other bastards are cheaters. Cheaters! Cheaters! Cheaters!

-None of the results are important until the MotoCzysz starts racing so I can post what I want. (2011 and this still applies.  Lol )

-Just don't go on the internet at all for days until you have seen the race. Even if you are planning a ride with others on the board or purchasing something in the classifieds or looking for information on a purchase or just enjoying a non-racing discussion, you should just know better than to log on.

-How long until we can discuss results in thread titles?

-Do these rules still apply if I have seventy ignores?

-Why doesn't everyone think the same way I do?

edit - I changed the title of the thread to better get the point across.

How 'bout:

"Guess who DIDN'T crash in the last lap!"

or

"Sure glad I didn't bet on Mladin..."

or

"If you don't wanna know that Pedrossa won, don't open this thread!"

Also please put the result pretty far down your post and use one . on each line for at least 10 lines.

And example message content:

Quote

Troy Baliss wins it again!!

This will take care of the auto post preview when you hover your mouse over a thread title.

Now would could not hover over a thread title but if you click on a section and then do something else for a moment while that page is loading it is possible for your mouse to now start overing a thread title and you can see the results hen you didn't want to.

I'll be working almost every weekend during racing season so my VCR will going every weekend (any recommendation on a DVR?). I don't want to have to avoid STN until I have time to watch the race! Plus, I can't figure out how to sign up for the MotoGP channel. The "pay" icons don't seem to be working.

I like Tivo as I like Direct tv. I'm just finishing the 125's from last season. Those little things make for some fun last lap jockeying.  Thumbsup

I don't like the word spoiler, can we find a more politically correct word/phrase? Like: This thread contains the resuls of the race XXXXXXXX, at such and such a date XXXXXXX, so please don't look here, thank you very much for your cooperation? or if that is a bit cumbersome how about: Resultser? Ruiner? Destroyer of suprises-er?   Revealer? Bigsmile

Now if we can just get ESPN and SpeedTV to stop putting spoilers in the scrolling banners at the bottom of the screen....  Or, the race announcers (say, for a AMA Superbike race) will mention who won Supersport and FX, WHICH HAVEN'T BEEN BROADCAST YET.  Idiots.  I hate to be watching one race and get the results of another one.

Thumbsup  It just doesn't seem that difficult to me for Speed to do that.

Then again, has ESPN ever scrolled an AMA road race result?  I'd take it as a good sign for bike racing if they did.
