I've been thinking of getting a cheap d/s bike to play around local gravel and offroad parks around here. Found this on Craigslist. Tell me what you all think. I'll be honest and say I don't know much about these kinds of bikes, but. Give me some feedback here.

Be careful how you scratch?

Kinda old for the price.

Well the ad said the guy needs cash. What would you offer for this bike?

Those old XT's will run forever, and have a pretty low seat height for a dual sport, however the suspension is not adjustable other than preload.  $1100 is a lot for that bike with those miles, even with the topend rebuild.  I would start looking for an early to late Suzuki DR 250-350.  I got a '95  electric start Dr250 with 5000 miles for 1150.  I would keep looking, or offer 7-800.
