Obviously Austria and Switzerland but specifically where in these two countries? Thanks. I'm planning a ride in May with four friends.

Switzerland is the size of Massachussets. You won't have a problem finding roads  Bigsmile

Austria isn't much bigger.

Go to www.bestbikingroads.com and pick an area  Smile

lots to choose from. French and Italian roads are nuthin to sneeze at.

Holland of course!  Razz

In all seriousness, this is a rather subjective question, but my personal favorite in Slovenia. It's very small, but very diverse. The Slovenians have a saying, and to paraphrase: "when God created the earth, he decided to give Slovenia a bit of everything"  Bigok

May is a little early for the best of Switzerland and Austria, but perfect for the great roads in the southeast of France or Italy south of the Po River Valley. And both of those areas have easy ferry access to Corsica, which also has wonderful May weather.

Thanks and you're probably correct about May being a bit early. But I did some hiking in Switzerland two years ago in May. Perfect weather and the snow was gone.

Some people do day rides from Andermatt, which means you can leave most of your luggage at the hotel  Smile

Corvara or Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Italian Dolomites are also good places to make day rides from.

Ditto.

And ditto.  We used Arabba instead of Cortina, but same difference.  Inlove

Another vote for Holland. It's all down or up hill from there.
