The suspension is surprisingly good, the motor is surprisingly smooth. Much more so than the 1100cc 'modern' Guzzi motors that I have ridden. Handling is slow but extremely stable and she just arcs into bends. Really nice. The faster she goes, the better she handles.
Lousy slow speed handling due to the stock steering damper that is shot.  Does anyone know if it's safe to ditch the steering damper? It's not like this bike is gonna see a track but still...

Final point, crazy heavy throttle return spring. There's a mod to remove one of the cables to make the effort 'normal' but until then it's a good thing I've spent so much time on the internet typing one handed....

Nice find! Restoring is nice, but a good massaging of the troubling bits and then riding her like she was meant to be gets my vote. You can always restore her later.

That bike is nice enough to deserve being named like my daughter, who is even more beautiful.  Smile

I doubt you couldn't learn to live with those few niggles over time. Adjust to the bike as much as you can, then address those things you can't live with. Keep it as original as you can IMO.  Thumbsup

Yah, the only thing I need to fix is the steering damper, as it does not feel safe at low speeds with it (coming to a stop, making U-turns etc).  I'm thinking of just pulling it off.

I may address the heavy throttle as that is affecting my social life.

I meant to respond to this but forgot

If it's anything like the V11, a steering dampner would help, for those times you do get sporty on it. These bikes aren't meant to be cruisers afterall  Bigsmile

I was sat at Rhencullen during the '02 TT when Guzzi entered a Tenni as part of the 50th anniversary of Omobono Tenni's TT win. The Tenni came through the kink looking like it had a hinge in the middle  EEK! I later found out that the steering dampner had failed.

Admitedly, that bike was being ridden at 10/10ths. Not normal conditions, but still, I would want one for the peace of mind during those times that I wicked it up a knotch  Bigsmile

I'm gonna take off the one that's on it and look for a modern replacement.
In the mean time, I'll use the Vespa for 10/10ths riding.

And feels like, and rides like. Guzzis are like British vertical twins. Except they work (once they've been rewired, obviously).
