awesome bike. Nice Guzzi.
I've seen photos of some red early 80s' Lemans guzzi's and they are to die for.

I'm gonna take off the one that's on it and look for a modern replacement.
In the mean time, I'll use the Vespa for 10/10ths riding.

Request duly noted

Also set of Ikons on the back and a set of Hyperpro springs for the front will make it a lot better.

Thanks Dean. I'm already looking at shocks and have priced the Ikons. But the steering damper - the link sez it's for the Cali 1100 post 1994 models. I'm gonna have to do some looking around...

Lousy slow speed handling due to the stock steering damper that is shot. Does anyone know if it's safe to ditch the steering damper? It's not like this bike is gonna see a track but still...
Final point, crazy heavy throttle return spring. There's a mod to remove one of the cables to make the effort 'normal' but until then it's a good thing I've spent so much time on the internet typing one handed....
I'm gonna wait a month or so before I decide whether to perform a like new restore on this baby.
Replace the steering damper rather than remove. If you do take it off and get a tank slapper remember that easing on the rear brake to slow the bike in the time honoured fashion is not a good idea... ask me why if you must but think about it first
the best thing for big old Guzzi's is a nice wide superbike bend handlebar... that makes 'em turn in but the stability remains
The Dell'orto flat slide pumper carbs so colourfully described in the manual are prone to sticking throttle slides when the throttle is chopped from big openings at sporting pace, hence the "hairy chested" return springs.... so leave them in place & enjoy the character. Still love lemon mk3's after all these years.

Coming this week, new throttle cables and Tomaselli throttle housing, new oil lines, new grips (hate the stock OEM ones - hard and slippery), brake pads.
