This most DEFINITELY constitutes general discussion as i'm sure some folks would be swayed to buell after these prices.

1125 R and CR, with lower fairing $6800, naked 6500
firebolt $4800!!
lightning long $5100
ulysses $6300
ulysses XT $7300
i'm going tonight to see about throwing down a deposit

I thought HD committed to providing warranty service and parts/service for 7 years?

According to reports in one of the many other Buell threads, dealers are only getting the $5000 incentives if they sign a document saying they will provide warranty and support. If they don't sign then they can just sell the rest if their Buells and be done with them. I don't know whether this is actually the case or not.

7 years parts and warranty support. in 2016 buy up some brake rotors, pads and call it good. plus if you get 10 years out of a motorcycle, i'd say you got a return on your investment.

Obviously, I'm biased. Buy one of these bikes. Spend some time with it, the more you ride it, the more you will love it. This aint no Harley. The stigma that H.D. put on Buell really hurt them. I don't think parts availability will be a problem either. However, resale value, thats another thing.

What he said - I'm hunting for an XB9SX, but open to the XB12Ss. Assume $5100 is before freight/prep and other fees? Is it an '09? I am open to a fly and ride. Not getting much flexibility on the XB's here in the NYC metro area.

I actually got several places down to $5800, but then I realized I didn't really need the bike, and that I'd rather spend the money on a lightly used BMW or Triumph Daytona.

Does price really affect what you guys ride that much? For me it is about 3rd or 4th on my list of why i get what bike.
If i can't afford something new i just wait a few yrs and get it used. But I get what I want to ride, not whats cheaper.

Ti, i know you want to destroy the love that's going on here, but i honestly think a firebolt would destroy your bike through the twisties. not top end. you'd own on straights. but through curves, you'd have nothing. just sayin.

I've rode lots of bikes and have never rode anything that handles like the 954. Not saying there aren't better bikes out there but I seriously doubt the firebolt compares. Time for a test ride........

Its all rider and how confident he is on his machine, period. It does not make a rats ass what he is riding. It does help to have some power to compensate for low corner speed though
I like the 1125 but am not willing to bank on it being a great dependable bike for 5 years. Damn shame...I hate HD the more I think about it.

So, you're not willing to buy a Buell, which is the reason why Harley is getting rid of them (they weren't selling), and yet you hate Harley for closing them down even though you stated you are not willing to buy a Buell?
Ok then...

So I am pretty sure I just bought an 1125cr over the phone sign un-seen.
A black 2009 for $6795 OTD. I put a down payment and signed for it via telephone/fax. It had a bad turn signal, so they ordered a replacement and I'll pick the bike up next week when that comes in.
Hurray for the buell sales blast!
The funny thing, is it was my wife's idea to buy this thing. I was talking to her in the car and blabbing on about motorcycles (like always) and mentioned that the Buells were being discontinued and selling for half of MSRP. She was like "wow! That's cheap for a brand new bike! you should buy one!" My jaw dropped... but I am a good husband and followed her suggestion with a prompt bank-account draining.

That must be why I have a happy household.
When my wife said I should buy the Sprint, I said 'yes dear' and complied.
When she said I should look at a Tiger, I said 'yes dear' and bought it.
When she says to do the dishes or some project out back, I say 'what dear, I can't hear over the racket of these motors!'

Ok then...
I was planning to buy one when they were competative. They were on there way with the rotax motor. Just needed a few more years in R&D and more money to develope. AMA is NOT the series to be in if you want to sell bikes to a sport bike rider. I mean honestly what do YOU ride when you want performance...I will guess ducati?? You have openly stated you only use the Hardly to get girls. I will enjoy reading what DMG does now that they put there money on Buell and gave them the chapionship. Oh the irony...LOL I think it was planned anyway (championship and closing). They ought to continue the trend setting competition and let the ninja 250's compete with the xr1200's. That would suck watching a 14 year old kid on a import 250cc motorbike beat an old man on an american 1200cc motorbike. No sweat off my balls, just still waiting for an american to build a bike that would be competative.

Congrats. Let's see pictures.
I am guessing that as a V-Maxx owner you may not mind those big air scoops. I think they're cool, and they remind me of the big aluminum V-Boost air scoops on the V-Maxx.

True, and these ones are functional too! (well, for cooling... and the new V-max has functional scoops.)
Actually, the V-max is finally going for sale (see the for sale section soon)... I've had it for many years and miles, but three bikes is too many. Gotta make room for the new hotness.
I'll post pictures when I pick it up next week.
But here is a black one which I assume will look like mine just for kicks:

lol.
The salesman told me the turn signal was bad on one they just sold, so they gave that customer the one from this bike, and are ordering the one from this? Whatever.
I don't think these are THAT unreliable. 2 year unlimited mile warranty too.

You have openly stated you only use the Hardly to get girls.
And do this:
Dat's ok, you were gonna buy a Buell in, what, 2020 when you could finally have bought your dream Buell used, seeing you ride a 10 year old Kawi? Why not a new ZX14? A heck of a lot better than that buzz bomb ZX11 - and yeah, I had an 11!
Yeah, Harley shoulda kept Buell alive so that you MAY buy one of their bikes 10 years from now...

Then step up to something like a zx14. It also corners much better than an 11.
But back on topic, you were complaining about Buell going away but have no interest in buying one.
Got it.

Thanks! Yeah, I am not too worried about this bike. I am sure it will be better than my last bike purchase (that was 3 hrs away, bike had a bad fork seal, and I dropped it unloading from the trailer.)

I guess I'm not gettin it. Waiting for a competitive American built sport bike before you'd buy? What were you planning on doing with it, competitive street riding or making a living on the track?

I don't get the track fixation either. I think some of the great things about Buell have nothing to do with racing. Real-world performance and fun is where its at.
And the irony of someone thumbing his nose at buell while riding a 10 year old zx11 (not a race bike then either[except for drag racing maybe])
But let's move on from this...
I can't flippin' wait until I pick up the 1125cr! woot!

"competitive street riding " I LOLed!
The only reason for waiting for a "competitive" bike is for bench racing. And the fine folks of STN don't do any bench racing, now, do we?

Sweet! I can't wait to ride it! It is a little weird buying a bike without even seeing one in person before parting with my money... I rode one earlier this summer a buell demo, but my memory of that is a bit foggy (I spend the day racing my SV around their little parking lot race track.. it was a blast!)

I have thus far been unsuccessful in finding significant discounting on the 2010 Blast. And it's going to be the most collectible/valuable 2010 model down the road!

Hmmm... I don't know about value... But could rarity/desirability go to the 1125cr? It is only being built for one year. It is more refined and (I think, as do others) that it is better looking than the 1125R.

What this 'experiment' has determined is that people will trip over themselves to buy a 120 hp sport bike. If it retails for $6K.
Ah, the 1125R stock is 145hp. Not sure which bike you're looking at.

sweet jeebus man, give me some time to enjoy the thing!!
I'm in love, seriously. I should have bought this bike years ago. smooth, comfortable, flickable, power...oh the power. Not quite up there with literbikes but the thing pulls like nobody's business. front wheel comes up WAY too easy in 1st and 2nd.

Nice, Steve. Now go find out what the "grounding" issue is and fix it before it gets you. Dealer said they'd addressed all the TSBs on the one my buddy bought. Ooopsie. Talk about wonky presentation. All the lights came on and stayed on when the key was turned off and removed from the bike and it wouldn't start with the key in and on (for those looking out for duh moments to point out). Fun.

Maybe a little edition one. But the rest of their fleet was mass produced.
What you are getting with a Buell is a limited production bike. They only shipped a total of 14,000 bikes last year, I think. So there aren't that many around. It will be interesting to see what the collector market for these in a few years looks like.

Pontiac G8 w/ the 361hp V8 is sweet. Heck yeah I'd buy that if it was 50% off MSRP like the Buell 1125 bikes.

Same as my usual experience walking into a HD dealer, pleasant all the way around. quick to get a sales rep who leave me alone if i say i want to poke around some. Said i wanted the Uly, didn't have the X but a couple XT's left. He kept talking up the bikes saying it's a shame they went under because it's the best performance for the money, great tech, yada yada. No condescending attitude toward buell's whatsoever. answered every question i had with knowledge and anything he didn't know he found out within 5 minutes. as i said, my usual HD dealer experience.

Damn, so tempting.
Dealers in the Los Angeles area are taking the $5k off of list, but adding $700-$1000 for 'freight and setup'.
So a Lightning is about $6600otd.
An 1125CR is $8500otd.

Ok, I pick up mine later this week. I told my dad about it, and he wanted one. So I found him a red 1125cr at a dealer about an hour away. They wanted $7400+ fees. I talked them down (a bit of work with these guys) to 6695 OTD + PA sales tax (this was in MD, and they didn't do PA tax there for some reason.)
Basically what it took was this, I said: "The 1125cr MSRP is 11,695. Take the $5k Harley is giving you off, and You've got $6,695. He will buy today if you sell for that plus tax only."
Mine I'll have to drive further, but got for 6795 total with tax included. But I wanted a CR in black. Had another dealer that wouldn't budge below $7100+fees because "It's the last one."
We took my dad's home today, and he is just as giddy as I am. I wish I had mine now!

I've got the classic car for the ladies (if mine ever decides to leave me) and have a friend with $ to blow who's interested. keep it local and with someone i know. He's never ridden on the street though so i'm not sure if i'd be negligent in selling him the nightster. just make him promise not to get on the stick to hard if it's wet or in corners and he should be fine...right?
I would keep it but i've got debt flying out my @ss like bats from a cave. Selling the nightster will keep me debt neutral or possibly gain me a few bills.

Awesome!! If you have to have black, swing by a paint shop. I'm willing to bet they'd spray the plastics for about 150 bucks.

I've come so close to buying a Buell at several times in the past. If my job wasn't so iffy right now...
Buddy of mine was quoted 12 grand for a Ulysses Friday. He bought a new 1200 Sportster from the same shop 2-3 years ago. No sale, obviously.
My brother went to whatever shop is around Orlando today and was quoted $8999 for an XB12R. No sale again.
Reminds me of one big reason I never bought a Buell. HD dealers.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Rewind. You got an XT bags and all for how much? $8300 OTFD?
Must, resist, temptation. Do not go to Ray Price. Stay away from Ray Price. But they have 2 in blue! Crap, stay away from Ray Price.
BTW my HD/Buell experience has been like yours. The last sales guys ear I bent rode an XB12R on the street, and was building another to race. So, very knowledgeable.

So, I had a dealer down to $5800 for an 1125R, but I passed as I just had a feeling it wasn't the right deal.
Well, I might be closing a deal for one of just a few produced 2010 CRs for....$5500 OTD

So, I had a dealer down to $5800 for an 1125R, but I passed as I just had a feeling it wasn't the right deal.
Well, I might be closing a deal for one of just a few produced 2010 CRs for....$5500 OTD
Will post back if this actually goes through
You sure that's not a 2010 Buell Blast?!?

If you think about it - it's likely to be the most collectible long-term.

If those were 2008 R's you made a good move to pass on them. I still say thier value is closer to $4,000 as a track bike.

mancuso HD here in town cleared their entire stock of buells in 1 week. Actually less when you consider the frenzy didn't start until they released prices.
So my question is...why the hell didn't they price these things a bit more competetively in the first place. HD dealers never budge from MSRP but at least put the price where your product can compete against the imports.
seeing a lot more firebolts around town now
If I weren't so tall there'd be one of those in the garage instead of (or maybe alongside) the uly.
