It's kinda tough trying to figure out what to do ride-wise. Last year, several of us left early and hit the road for an excellent ride along PA144 and other roads. We got all the way up to Hyner View past Renovo, where we turned around and headed back, making it to Denny's in time to go to Arby's for lunch!  Lol

I'd like to hang wth everyone...but I'd like to ride some of those great roads again too. So I guess if people want to do both, it means getting up for an EARLY and SHORT morning ride...followed by a break to hang out and do lunch.

Or maybe we could take the long way up there Saturday? Aww hell, I don't know!  Crazy

Holly and I are leaving sometime Saturday morning from Harpers Ferry, WV, so if anyone wants to meet for the ride up (and has ideas for a good route from there) let me know!

Looks like the weather is going to be just about perfect.  Low to mid 60's and sunny.

Yep, we'll be at Day's Inn. We hope to make it there for dinner on Saturday. Maybe we'll eat dinner at the same place as last year, the food was good and cheap Thumbsup You and Holly going there again?

Jay said something about being in Boston that weekend, not sure if it's work or pleasure.

I’m not doing any early morning Sunday rides this year, the 600 miles to get home will be plenty riding for me. This will be the first “street” ride of the season for me literality. I’ve only been riding dirt exclusively since December, my street bikes have been parked in the garage since last December, I want to take it easy  Rolleyes Lol

Kendenton,
I am thinking of going to the event and leaving early Saturday.  If you would like to ride up together let me know.  I never got to go to my WV trip.  My Uncle died and we had his funeral last Monday.  Plus the weather was horrid.  Anyway, if you would like to meet up that is great.  If you would like to go it alone, that is fine also.  If so I will see you at the event.  Now I just got to let the wife know about the trip.  Headscratch
I hope she is cool with it.

Yep---we're staying at the Days Inn. We'll probably roll in sometime around 3 or 4pm Saturday---in time for the "parking lot hang-out-and-bullshit" session.  Thumbsup Then yeah---we should all grab some dinner together.

You should ride your dirtbike. LOL I might actually ride the KLR up there...

My XT225 is not interstate friendly Lol It tops out around 60MPH. There is no way I could do 600 miles on it in one day, even on back roads where I could ride 55MPH, that's just too many miles. I've done 300 miles on it a few times and that was plenty.

It’s a dirt bike, it likes to go 20-30MPH though dirt  Wink

OK I just reserved a room for Saturday night.  I would love to get some feedback for suggested routes from Southern New Jersey to Western PA.  I REALLY do not feel like going to 476 to rt 80 and over.  That is showing over 5 hours.  I was thinking of staying west of all that and checking out some scenic roads. I know that it will take longer but that is fine.  I like the challenge and the scenery.   If anyone has time to list some ways to get me there I will start researching these roads and make a trip out of it. Gary I see that you have on your web site that 40 takes one out to St Louis.  I guess I could take a look at that up towards 322 and head up that way.  Regardless, I will see ya all Sat night and Sunday.  Good on ya.

Which one of us ordered this great weather?  I know we all hoped for it but the way it is looking I am thinking someone has some pull with Mother Nature.  Whomever it was,,,,,,, thank you.

The weather in the NE has been OK but there haven't been a whole lot of decent riding days.  I am so looking forward to riding 300 miles of back roads on the way out to Clearfield,,, and in the SUN!

And then there is Sunday.  Temps in the high 60's, dry roads, sun, and warmth all the way home,,, 380 miles of smiles.  I am sure my face cheeks will be a hurtin by the time I get home.

For people coming up from Harpers Ferry, VA, etc, I recommend the following roads/route:

- 219 north from I-68 (near Grantsville)
- 160 north from Berlin to Windber
- 56 west into Johnstown (slab, but short)
- 219 north to Grampian (starts out slab in J-town, then gets nice)
- 879 north? thru Curwensville to Clearfield

Tankhead - I'm heading out early Saturday AM from SJ as well.  I'm planning on PA41 to 897 to 501 to 125 to Shamokin, 61 to 15 to I-80 around the Susquehanna river.  Staying on I-80 to 144 area, and do some exploring.  I can send you a Garmin Route if you like.

Actually, I think you kinda did that route last year. I remember you mentioning 160...

If you want something different, consider this 340 mile option:

- 50 west from Winchester thru Romney and Gormania to jct 72
- 72 north (along Cheat River) to jct 7 in Kingwood
- 7 west (short) to jct 26 in Kingwood
- 26 north thru Bruceton Mills into PA
- 26 becomes 281 in PA. Stay on 281 thru Confluence to jct 653 in New Lexington
- 653 west? (make a hard left at the store) to jct 381 in Normalville
- 381 north to end at jct 30 near Ligonier
- 30 west (short) to jct 711 in Ligonier
- 711 north to end at jct 403 near Seward
- 403 north to jct 286 in Clymer
- 286 east to end at jct 219
- 219 north to jct 879 in Grampian
- 879 north? to Clearfield

Hi Tom, enjoy the ride.  Just remember there was around a foot of snow in the northeast PA area.   Most of it should be melted, but there are alot of cinders on the roads from the storm.   Ride safe.  I probably will make a day trip out there sunday.  Hope to see you then.
