So these are supposed to be prettier than a V-Strom, right?   Bigsmile

I hate to say it, but I'm starting to warm up to the styling, and am now fairly sure I may even like the bike when I see it in person.  Embarassment

Alright, I'm one step closer to getting one of these (sold one of the bikes Mon.), and I'm running numbers on this and a Tiger + upgrades to get it in the ball park.

Has anyone on here considered or put a deposit on the base model?  The electric suspension sounds great, but I could probably live without it.  I figure adding a center stand and bags will tack on another $1500.

Also, I don't have any dealers near me here in the desert, can anyone point me to a good Duc dealer between San Diego and LA? I'd prefer Temecula area or Newport as they are more interesting rides from here than LA.

It looks better than the old Multistrada, but it's still one weird lookin' bike.  I could get warmed up to this one though.

Well I also wanted the ABS which is more money on top of the base model.

This keeps sounding better and better to me.  Does anyone know what all is invovled with the 7,500 mile service.  Is it just an oil change, or is there something with the belts that is more invovled for a new Ducati owner.

Yup, $16,500 with ABS plus the add ons already takes it to $18.  Tax/Tags here in CA are murder and I'm still struggling with the OTD #'s on the S touring.

I'm really tempted to go put a deposit down soon, I've got it bad for this one, the White S Touring keeps calling my name.

I'm not sure that "pretty" is a word that can be used to describe any adventure touring motorcycle... that being said the Multi is more certainly more attractive than the V-Strom.

I don't care if it is pretty....it is fast, has great ergo, ABS, luggage and I'm sure it can wheelie like there is no tomorrow.

The belts are an every 15K mile change too.  I'm guessing the 7.5k service is just an oil change and checking all the other fluids, making sure stuff is torqued correctly, brakes are ok etc.  Seeing it only is supposed to take 1.5 hours.

not to burst any bubbles  Sad   but nothing "official" has come down the chain to dealers in the US.  Information may have been released in Europe but we have not seen anything from Ducati NA.  We have been invited to a short notice meeting at months end to go over the new MTS and I am certain all this will be gone over with us then.   Pretty sure 15K is the interval, not clear on the extent or what happens in between.  I do know for certain it will be longer intervals on valve adjust than current 4 valve motors in 848/1198 (currently 7500 miles).  Much of the cost will revolve more around ease of access for service than anything else.

+1  Lol

Ok, I know I quoted an MCN article and all, but it sure sounds official from the detail provided...

A Ducati statement reads: “Doubling the mileage between valve clearance inspection has been made possible with the introduction of a new valve seat material combined with improved combustion efficiency and temperature management designed into the Multistrada’s new Testastretta 11° engine.”

I think it came from Ducati UK, and further in it says it was a press release.

Just because Ducati NA doesn't know, doesn't mean it's not true. I think everyone else that are serious about buying the bike and saw it at the U.S. bike show are in the same boat as me. I knew waayyy more about the bike than the sales-rep.  Razz

Here's a clean shot of the red touring

Very nice! Funny, though everything has changed on this new model, it still looks like it's in the MTS family. Headscratch
