Always wanted to see this.

My Dad used to volunteer as one of the distance judges.  Said it was a trip.

Riding down there can be real boring though, & heavy traffic.  Have to think about it.

Frank,

I was thinking of going down 82,841,Appleton Rd in PA, circumventing all the major cities, going down thru remote MD, and cutting back over to the Bridgeton, DE area.. Not doing Rt.1 or 13 in DE... think about it some more.. Smile

These people are nearby http://www.yankeesiege.com/ , They hold the world record throwing pumpkins with a trebuchet.   I stopped by to watch them launch a few pumpkins one day. There is something about watching a pumpkin go by 300' up in the air that cracks me up.

I was there in 04 and 05 lots of fun. The creativity on some of the chuckers is amazing.
Its tough to even follow the pumpkins when the air cannons launch them.

I tried to go there about 4 years ago.
Waited in traffic over an hour. We were about 10 cars from the gate and they ran out of parking and just waved everybody by.

If you plan on going leave early.

Looks like it will be an early start time on Saturday morning.. Festivities start at 930am in Southern DE..

I'll be leading a back roads route from PA routes 23 and 345 junction Elverson. Leaving from D'Ambrosio Dodge side lot that runs along Rt345. Kickstands up at 6am.. I'll be there about 5:45am. Eat something before you leave, we'll stop for a bite somewhere along the way, time permitting, and there's plenty of food at the event.

I know its an early start in the dark.. If you can make it that early.. come join us..  post up if you think you're gonna make it so I know who to expect.

Jeets if you decide to go we'll run out to Elverson together.

I am intrigued... anyone from this side of the Bay going over?  I'd love to do this, but that's pretty early.

How long of a day are we talking here?  Are they chucking pumpkins all day long?

zero,

Not sure how much of a ride it is for you to get there... We are coming down from SE PA, thats why we are leaving that early..  Check out their website in the OP.. The festivities are starting at 9:30am Saturday.. and there is a link to show the daily schedules of events.
