Always wanted to see this.

My Dad used to volunteer as one of the distance judges.  Said it was a trip.

Riding down there can be real boring though, & heavy traffic.  Have to think about it.

Frank,

I was thinking of going down 82,841,Appleton Rd in PA, circumventing all the major cities, going down thru remote MD, and cutting back over to the Bridgeton, DE area.. Not doing Rt.1 or 13 in DE... think about it some more.. Smile

These people are nearby http://www.yankeesiege.com/ , They hold the world record throwing pumpkins with a trebuchet.   I stopped by to watch them launch a few pumpkins one day. There is something about watching a pumpkin go by 300' up in the air that cracks me up.

I was there in 04 and 05 lots of fun. The creativity on some of the chuckers is amazing.
Its tough to even follow the pumpkins when the air cannons launch them.

I tried to go there about 4 years ago.
Waited in traffic over an hour. We were about 10 cars from the gate and they ran out of parking and just waved everybody by.

If you plan on going leave early.

Looks like it will be an early start time on Saturday morning.. Festivities start at 930am in Southern DE..

I'll be leading a back roads route from PA routes 23 and 345 junction Elverson. Leaving from D'Ambrosio Dodge side lot that runs along Rt345. Kickstands up at 6am.. I'll be there about 5:45am. Eat something before you leave, we'll stop for a bite somewhere along the way, time permitting, and there's plenty of food at the event.

I know its an early start in the dark.. If you can make it that early.. come join us..  post up if you think you're gonna make it so I know who to expect.

Jeets if you decide to go we'll run out to Elverson together.

I am intrigued... anyone from this side of the Bay going over?  I'd love to do this, but that's pretty early.

How long of a day are we talking here?  Are they chucking pumpkins all day long?

Been there, saw that. Probably about 2004. Nice ride down......f'in freeeeeeeeezing ride home in the dark on 95 and 476. Wasn't anywhere near properly dressed. That was back in my 3/4 helmet days. The wind and turbulence around my bike was just right that night and everytime I hit 65 mph or more my face shield would blow up and try to rip my head off. Rode with one hand on the throttle and one holding down my shield eventually....Ah...good times.  Rolleyes

It was pretty cool watching the punkin chuckin though.

Well, everyone was on time this morning, We left from Rts 23 and 345 in PA at 6am.. Temp was a balmy 26F... Our backroads route took us thru frosty deer country South on PA Rts 82, 841, 896, Appleton Rd to Elkton, MD, then MD routes south 213, 313, Well below Greensboro we took backroads over into Delaware.. and snuck up on our destination with no traffic whatsoever until we were on Chaplains Chapel road heading into the event. We arrived in time for the opening ceremonies at 9:30am.

There were lots of catapults and air cannons, tons of food to eat and freaks to look at. We watched the preliminary shots from the cannons and a few of the centrifugal launchers, but they are throwing them so far down range, if you're not right behind them when they shoot.. its almost impossible to pick up the pumpkin in the air.

The down range marking crew was having trouble locating alot of the shots which made progress painfully slow. So much so that by 1pm we decided to leave and find a nice route back north, just as a mass entrance of raving Chuckin fans were heading in to the gates to come in. The fields behind our bikes and as far as we could see were full of cars and trucks, and as we were leaving the DOT guys had both lanes of the road heading into the event.. Amazing.

Thanks to my riding partners for the day for making the ride down and back a great day.... Punchdude, Jeets, AcMotto( AcMoeToe) We really had a nice day for it.. and it warmed up nicely this afternoon for the ride back.

Short daylight days had me leaving in the dark from home at 5:10am and returning in the dark at 5:30pm..

Caged it there today with Redfox & a friend.  Couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day weather-wise.  The record was 4160+ feet, by one of the compressed air cannons.  Here's a couple pics:

Yeah, it absolutely helped, still a slight noise around 2800-3k RPMS, but I'm not really concerned about it. Put about 250 miles on with the CORRECT amount in, and it settled down to the top line on the glass anyway. I think with my next change it'll go away completely.

BTW, I think I have another Connie rider coming to the winter meet...
