Apparently there were some engine failures at Mugello when the journos were testing the bike. Some bikes threw rods which resulted in Aprilia cancelling later sessions.
Reported by Raptorsandrockets.com and confirmed by Adam Waheed of motorcycle-usa.com.

Is the gas tank half empty or half full?

Sorry, I got a little off topic, but I hope I answered your question, and that we all learned something about butterflies in the process.

But I bet they sure sounded good when they threw those rods. Am I right?

I'd take my chance of going down if they wanted me for a test ride. Even with a bad motor that is a sexy bike.

I took a look around and found the truth. They were pre-production bikes with sub par rods.Aprilia has assured that none of that batch made it into bikes for sale.It happens.Doesn't sway me from wanting one in the least.
