New guy here. Any rf900 owners? If not chime in anyway

Hey guys.
Just joined your forum.
I'm curious to know if there are any rf900 or rf600 owners here among us.

Fell in love with the RF series the first time I ever laid eyes on one.

I aquired this one in 2007 and have been touring on it since.



The below is a photo of my old rf600, though it really wasn't old at all in terms of usage.
The difference between the 6 and the 9 are worlds apart.


Oh and here's my Lotus. Bought it a year ago this month.

Well, I'm from the most corrupt state in the union, Louisiana.
I've been all over this state.
Perhaps the best tour I've been on to date has been through St Francisville La. north to Natchez Mississippi where me and a fellow rider jumped on the Natchez trace and rode it close to the Tennessee state line. I've done this a couple of time.
It was an incredible ride.
Many historic civil war sites along with lots of wildlife, like wild turkeys crossing the road and such.
I'd be afraid to ride it at night due to deer.

Maybe I'll find a riding partner here one day.

i agree about the rf's styling.  i loved them the first time i saw them, unfortunately they are hard to come by in my neck of the woods.  i search craigslist daily for 'entertainment' (to buy stuff my wife doesnt know about), and have only seen one rf in several years of looking...and it was trashed.

Yep......it's my 1998 Corvette behind the bike in the pic.
I saw the Lotus and fell in love so I sold the vette. She had 52k miles on her and was a beauty.

I used to sport tour with a buddy who had an RF900  He even had the matching leather jacket that Suzuki had made for the bike.  Great bike but hideously expensive bodywork.  If you drop it at a dead stop it will be totalled.  When I bought my GPZ in 95 the RF900 was one of the other bikes I considered.  Not enough leg room.  Great sport touring bike if it fits you.

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you need to get out more!     Why not plan on stretching out the legs on that fine-looking steed and join us next June in West Virginia? A quick 800+ miles and you'll find a number of riding partners

Got it outfitted with hard bags for touring. No problems with it. Good bike. If you do search for RF900 on this site you should find some postings about the mods I have made.

You have the exact same RF900 that I once had.
My first RF900 was black and purple. It was a beautiful bike.

The bike was totalled in an accident I had many years ago when an old man pulled right out in front of me. I was able to slow the bike to between 15- 17 mph before impact but the bike was demolished.

I'm on my third RF series , now.
My second was a rf600.
And then I came back to the 900, the one I have now.

      I still have my '97 RF. Just broke 30k mi. It sits alonside another out of print bike,lol, a Victory 92SC.  
   I debate on selling it but it's been so reliable and I haven't beat it up like todays used rockets have been and to replace it would cost easily $8k so it's cheaper just to tag it for $50/yr and start it up every two weeks if I don't ride it.

I do the same thing.
If I'm not riding like I have been lately, I crank her up and let her run for a while.
I'm soon to turn 30k miles on my RF. When I bought it, it had 14k on the odometer.
I haven't really had any problems other than a battery suddenly going dead, 2 weeks after I aquired my bike. I replaced the battery and had no other problems since. And I hope I don't have any.
When I ride, it's usually 200-300 mile outings at the time.
I did an mileage average weekend before last ( because this past weekend sucked for riding/nasty weather) and calculated 42+ miles per gallon.
When people see this bike they rave over it when I tell em it's a 1995 model.
It's been mistaken for a zx14 a couple of times.............and pissed my friend off who has a new cbr600rr Honda when girls come up and say " I like that red one, it's beautiful"

If I live through all of this, I guess I'll start looking for another really nice RF9 in a couple of years.
I've yet to see a better looking sport tourer.

I just picked up a basket case RF600 with no title.  Trying to decide what to do with it.  It was an insurance write off.  Wondering if I could make a decent track bike out of it???

I always loved the Rf's styling. Always wondered why no other manufacturer ever bothered to integrate the frame's colour into the bike's paint scheme.
The RF600in Ferrari Red sure was a looker.

Bringing this out of the mothballs.  
New guy to the forum riding an RF600.  Great bike, but yes, need more legroom.  Being over 6 feet tall, my knees pay the price.  I'm currently shopping for methods to give me more space.  
Other than that, its a great little bike and does everything I ask it too.  I've got a few tweaks here and there, but there's not too much more I want to do...oh who am I kidding, even my wife doesn't buy that line anymore.

I've had mine for 3 years now. I bought it ridiculously cheap as it had the notorious 2nd gear issue. rode it till it locked up on me (luckily under 20mph, still hurt tho!) and replaced the entire gearset with one out of a gsxr1100 (affectionately referred to in my shop as the FIX-R). Love the powerband and with the right carb work you can easily get 145 hp out of it.  On top of that the ENTIRE top end (rods up to valve covers) from a GSX-R 750 of the same vintage will fit directly if parts become hard to find. I had a guy come into my shop with a blown rf900 and left with a milder rf750 which he gave to his son (hence why he opted for the 750).  even the cams (with machine work, ect.) from a gsxr1100 will fit and add a few horses.    the lights on the tail light up the entire road behind you (Which I love for these moonbats we have up here in Mass who seem to be on the phone more than paying attention) and being a 6'2" gentleman it fits me amazingly.   I hope to never have to get rid of it!

Here's my 1996 RF900. Just about to hit 30K miles. I've had it for almost 5 years, think it had around 15K when I bought it. Went up a couple teeth on the back sprocket.

I had a 97' RF900R and I loved it.. It looked just like the one in the post above without the after market stuff (mine was stock)..

That is a damn fast bike..

Had one btwn 02 and 05.  94 RF900R Black with Purple.

Pegs were pretty high.  Forward lean, bit not quite as much as my SV100S(T).

Loved it because it was unique, nobody could never really place it age-wise (just the headlamp looked a little dated).
