From Motorcycle Daily:
Quote
After riding high-powered superbikes around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca all day, the last thing I want to do is sit at my computer and write a teaser, but it was an exciting event and I want to whet your appetites a little for a full feature next week. Today, KTM officially announced five new or redesigned street models, and I had a chance to ride four of them.
Read the rest at the link. They rode the 990 SM-T at Laguna Seca. You know what that means, right?

For the 07 and beyond Super Dukes (larger tank from factory in 07+), you can get 180-200 miles per tank depending on your throttle hand.

Download the 2010 KTM USA brochure here.
It includes the 990 Supermoto T and R!

Page 34 of the brochure says the soft bags shown on the SMT are standard equipment. I hope they are waterproof and good quality. The RC8R and new SMR look like great fun bikes but the SMT would be the KTM for me.

+1, I hope they over supply the demand so they can be discounted in a year or two like the Superdukes.

I am interested in KTM's plans to dominate the US street scene. While the new Duc MTS1200 is a techno-marvel, I find myself very attracted to the SMT for it being a more basic bike.
I just wish KTM would show their pricing and info on their website. If they are planning to dominate the US street market, they will need some sharper pricing, and not to mention that they only make one middle-sized street bike that isn't specifically an enduro or SM.

The only reasons I can think of to buy a SMT now over the Multistrada 1200 are due to concerns over Ducati maintenance costs and unknown reliability and lack of aftermarket support due to it being a brand-new model. However the SuperDuke is great and came in 1st in a Motorcycle Consumer News comparison between it, the Ducati Streetfighter S, Aprilia Tuono Factory, and Speed Triple.

Man, that looks like a gnarly track! And that 1200cc LC8 sounds great!

I'm not sure why the 2010 SD and SD-R are not listed yet. And, I suppose we'll have to wait a bit more for the SM and RC8-R prices.
Check out the SE RC8-Rs for 2010 (from KTM N/A's Facebook site)

I'd really like a Super Duke 990 or Supermoto SMT, but aren't valve intervals 8.5k miles? Also, how many hours of labor are those adjustments?
Just trying to get a feel for KTM maintenance costs (I don't do my own maintenance)

10K mile (15K km) intervals on valves for the LC8 engines. Shim under bucket I believe.

Thank you! I'm guessing 2, maybe 2.5 hours of labor + parts, right?
