Well done -- that motor is addictive --

No, wait, you're only an addict if you try to stop, right?

The motor is a thing of beauty!

I have a Speed Triple - so I was sold on the engine but in the Tiger it is fantastic. Liked my V-Strom but this is the best of both.

Well - finally went down in the snow on Saturday and bought the Tiger.

Today I had to ride it home and it was a bit chilly. About a 3-1/2 -4 hour ride on backroads with a lunch stop to warm up.

The Tiger is awesome. Can't wait for a warmer day with clear roads.

Big congrats on your new Tiger, wsplrll!  Enjoy.  Bigok

You have quite the pair of bikes in the garage now!  It is interesting, because I am heavily considering going from my Tiger to a Speedie (or STReet675).  As now an owner of both, do you have any comparison comments between the two?  Did you end up getting the ABS model?

Non ABS was the one that I got as a demo - with hard bags. I have the 2 bikes at the moment and love them both. The Speed Triple is an awesome bike and is impressive everytime you crack open the throttle. It is comfortable to ride all day and still give that sport bike feel. While comfortable - it is a little cramped for some over 6 ft if you are wearing cold weather layers. And of course 2 up is not really practical even though we rarely do that but it is nice to have the option. I also found that I tended to ride it too fast and wanted to slow things down a bit. If a naked bike is what you want the Speed Triple is the one I think is the best.

So I just sold my V-Strom in order to purchase the Tiger. As much as I love the Speedy I found that for the type of riding I do ( more day long distance) I was going to the V-Strom most of the time and that meant that the Speed Triple was sitting there not being ridden as much as it should. It seemed like a waste of a great machine. As I said the V-Strom while great to ride and a very versatile bike, I just didn't love it. Part of motorcycling is turning around to look at your bike when you  walk away.

So the plan as it evolves is - got the Tiger that is the best of both bikes and I will sell the Speedy. Then next season get a trail bike along the lines of a klx 250x or some other dual sport bike I can take on fire roads etc. I could do that one the Wee but probably not so much on the Tiger.

So this was the case of if you need to have one bike..... You cannt go wrong with either bike. Most of us tend to ride a certain bike for awhile then move on to something else for a bit. Maybe you are ready for a change. If you can swing it having both is the best of both worlds. If you are interested in making a deal for a really nice gently  used Speedy.....I know where you can find a good one.

Had the new Tiger out today for a short ride before it snows again. Also to get all the crud off from yesterdays 150 mile artic ride. Great bike. Here are some shots of her before I cleaned her up.

Hopefully more to come.

CONGRATS!!  Bigok  I've been ogling that bike and watching for the right deal on a Tigger for a year, but my finances haven't been where I'd like.  Would really like a white one, both because I like the looks, and they're sorta rare.

Thanks - I didn't like the look of the Tiger initially  but I think that it doesn't photograph well - at least in the moto rags. In person the bikes is much better looking. I have a white Speed Triple so when looking for a Tiger I had to have black. It took awhile to find one.

Keep looking I am sure you will find one.

I test rode a white one -- cagers were practically driving into ditches in front of me --

Later, while riding near a white specimen, I realized how cop-bike-like they look in that color. . . . . add an antenna and you'd have the road to yourself!

damn -- shoulda woulda coulda ;-}

When is the first service on a Tiger and does that include a valve adjustment?

What is the valve adjustment interval?

The break-in service is at approximately 500 miles with no valve check.  Then it goes to 6k service intervals, with valve checks every other service, at 12k intervals.

Accurate/ First service is an oil/filter change (recommend switch to full synth oil), cable/chain adjustments, if necessary, and generally making sure thothing is preparing to jump off.

Easily done, shouldn't be too expensive.

I was charged for only half an hour of service on my 500 mile first service. piece of cake...unless your dealer tries to milk you, it doesn't take much longer than that.
