Just curious if anyone has stuck their EZ Pass from the cage onto their bike at the last minute?

I was thinking about duct tape as the mounting system....... Headscratch

I did it a couple times when I lost my bike tag.  I had no problem and no violation was sent to my house.
Dont use your bike tag on the car, as the moto gets a big discount on nycb&t.

You MUST add your BIKE to your EZ Pass account (takes 30 seconds) -- otherwise they'll think your EZ pass was stolen.

---

When we added a second EZ pass to our account (my wife is the commuter), I added both my car and the Yamaha to the EZ Pass account.  Someone at EZ Pass fulfillment sent me a motorcycle version of the EZ Pass right away (it's a little smaller than the car one and it's waterproof).

I used it on the ESTN rally over the Summer...  Made it so nice, especially since it was raining heavily on the ride up -- no messing with storing a ticket on the front end, then dealing with the ticket, money and change on the other end.

---

If you don't need to use it right away, EZ Pass fulfillment will send you additional heavy duty Velcro strips at no charge, there's a comment form on the site (I needed some since they only send you one pair of strips and I had the bike and the car to put strips on).

---

They do make RAM mount holders for the EZ Pass, but they're kinda salty at $20.  I just have the velcro strips on the back side of my windscreen.

---

Here in PA (where we don't get a discount), I use my tag between the two vehicles with no problems.

I have mine velcroded to the front inside of my mini-tankbag.  Hasn't failed me (yet).

BTW, Marcster, I called them a few months back asking about a MC specific transponder and I was told there they don't have them.   Shrug

According to the guy at EZPass that I spoke to when I added my bike to my account; you can use your EZPass on your bike without adding the bike to the account.  He said I would not get a violation notice.  The discount is minimal, unless you ride the turnpike a lot; I try to avoid slab if at all possible.  But since i don't trust anything any bureaucratic employee tells me, I added it anyway.

I have not a clue where to mount it.  Try in the map case on your tank bag, or better yet duct tape it to your helmet with hi-viz tape.  They won't miss you going through the tolls thataway. LOL!;-)

Earlier today I compared our two units side-by-side.  Indeed, it seems that the only major difference is the lime green and black "MC" sticker on the Velcro side.  Prior to this morning, I was comparing the M/C transponder to the one in my wife's car, through the glass, not side by side.  You can see the sticker in the photo below....

Becareful with that.  Some states including MD are starting to add a $25 service fee even if you have a valid ezpass account.

I visit family every two years or so in Wisconsin. All the damn tolls in Chicago make EZ Pass so worth it since many of the EZ Pass lanes bypass the toll booths.

Looks like it should work at all of the following:

http://www.e-zpassny.com/en/about/facilities.shtml

That would beat explaining through an intercom to an office 20 toll booths away that infact I am not operating an 18 wheeler Lol Alright it wasn't funny then.

I use my car GPS on my bike too.  I take it out of the tankbag and hold it up.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't,,,either way I have never gotten a violation so I don't really care.

It really goes through the plastic that well? That's great news! I hadn't thought of that; mine didn't work once inside the clear tankbag cover...

I'm going to try it though, instead of grabbing it out of my pocket and holding carefully with my left hand on the clutch...

The extra fee is only 1.50 if I don't have my EZPass with me through the Harbor and/or Ft. McHenry Tunnel(s). I use mine for the car and bike. I just pull it out of the pocket on the Concours and hold it up. I was also told there's no Moto specific tag although they do have a license plate bracket that (I think) can be used for bikes. I haven't tried yet.
I was using my EZ Pass with my Magna for a month or so (before it got cooler) with no issues. Tank bag map pocket like others do. I haven't registered my Magna yet. I'm sure if I set off the alarm and/or it doesn't "zing" correctly the fine would go up!

+1. I don't even know where my tag is anymore. My wife's car, maybe? The PA toll on 78 is the only one I know of that's a gate. I hand the takers a dollar and usually wind up dropping the extra quarter on the ground. Otherwise I just tool around, and make sure all 4 of my vehicles' plates are entered on the web site.

And if I forget? A summons with a handy form on the back shows up: "Want to avoid the penalty? Fill out this form with your vehicle information, and we'll add it to your account."
