Thank goodness beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Granted, there are some ugly cruisers out there... no argument. But that's far from a blanket thing, don't you think? You think this is ugly?

Or this?

Yes. Very ugly. Have to say, though, that you're right about "eyes of the beholder." Fortunately, there are enough different eyes out there to produce bikes that don't all look alike.

One has to be the Victory Vision line for sure. The post with a side view doesn't do it justice! From the front it looks just like BOZO THE CLOWN! great...

I think another new line of uglies has just been born at Honda. Anyone seen that new VFR1200 yet? That could be another ugly classic. Way overdone brushed alum around headlight and a bunch of chrome that doesn't match anything around the fairing. A HUGE triangle, chrome muffler with a weird outlet and stylized handholds on the rear tailpiece. Like a K12RS BMW that met PIMP MY RIDE. UGLY....

Always thought that was a very pretty engine.  Clean and classic.  Someone should have put it in a retro cafe-racer bike.  Maybe with an Enfield badge.  Enfield (or someone similar - reborn "BSA" anyone?) should also have used the lump from the LS650 "Savage" (speech marks deliberate).

And Enfield should have bought the rights to continue building the Kawasaki W650.

But I'm way off topic now.

I knew about the VX800, doesn't float my retro boat.

I do like the ally-tanked cafe racer you found below though.

That's the sort of thing I meant.  Punch the engine out to 1,000cc, a proper capacity for a motorcycle, and I'd have one.

Agreed.  But from there on, the California veered suddenly into the ugly lane

I think they redeemed themselves with this: I'd hit it!  Inlove

The Suzuki Madura cruisers.  Good engine in an ugly ass bike.  And this is from a guy who owns an original Katana.
