Oh my...what's this?  It's the new 164 hp, 362 lb (dry) Bimota DB7R that's encased in never ending bits of exotica and enough structural carbon fiber to choke a horse.  What's the catch you ask?  It'll only run you $59,950.

Get out your checkbooks!

Weighing in at a hefty $59,950 (£36,500) the Diavolo gets a load-bearing carbon-fibre frame, swingarm, and matching carbon-fibre fuel tank, a GPS dash from GET Electronic Systems that provides all the usual data, plus lap times. There's also a GPS-driven 2-D track map with enough storage for up to 100 of your fave racing circuits

Meh.  For about half that I can convert any late model Jap or Duc literbike into just as much an exotica that will perform just well if not better.

As much as I love Bimotas, I have to say that their business model of taking other people's good reliable engines and building better handling bikes around them is out-dated. The "pedestrian" mainstream production sportbikes have gotten so competent (and so expensive), that all you are paying for is the brandname and the exclusivity (of being one of the few willing to buy one).

I'm not sure I agree.  It'd be pretty hard to drop 75 pounds off a GSXR 750...

I think the recent Motorcyclist magazine said only 10 would be produced.

They're probably already sold out.

Ti worth about 8lbs
CF wheels worth about 10lbs
CF body + Tank maybe 15lbs

Good... now just 42lbs to go.

It's pure sex, no doubt... It's also more money than a Desmosedici.

It's $12,550 less than the list of a Desmosedici.

But what's $12,550 when you're already spending this much for a bike.   Crazy
