When in doubt, throw a party. Even if nobody shows up, you'll have a fridge full of beer and your house has never been cleaner.

I'm sorry to hear this, losing a parent is always rough.
My sincerest condolences to you and your family Joel.
R.I.P. Mr. Schroeder.
I cannot say it any better, so I will just quote what Tony said.

Through the years witnessing friends lose fathers, I have always given this information with hopes that it cheers them up somewhat. I was a year and 5 months old when my father died. I never got to know him. I don't remember him. I have no memories with him, no playing ball, no learning to ride a bike from him, no going to for advice about girls, no riding motorcycles with him. You are very fortunate to have had your father for as long as you did. I envy that. Breathe in those memories, hold onto them, and tell your children's children all about the man you called dad. Please take great care of yourself.

Godspeed, sir!
He's not gone, Joel...he lives in your heart...and he's waiting somewhere 'round the bend for you to share the next adventure!
Peace!
