Very common problem, so common that locktite-ing the screws is on the FRJForum post delivery checklist.  You're lucky they lasted 10k.

Thanks, I put Lock-tite on those screw's gotta find some torx wrench's with the holes. The FJR is a really great bike- I live on the east side of the Sierras- the FJR eats up those twisty roads. Does anyone use the Avon-Storms? I like them so far but don't know how long they will hold-up, I found that they don't like the black snakes on hot days. 40lbs PSI front and back.

Try Michelin Pilot Road 2 tires next chance you get.  They're VERY good.

I had the Michelin Pilot Roads, I liked them alright I got 4800 miles (per tire) on them I'll try the II's next set. Did ya see the pics of the FJR in Canada with a car tire on the rear? Wow!! I try to avoid straight roads.

I run the Avon Storm. It's the best tire I've tried and I had a set of the Road Pilots. The Storms are better in the wet, which is a bit of a plus where I come from. 38/front, 42/rear. Still not showing much wear after 3,000 miles.

Oh sure, flaunt your 'pictures' as proof...

But we all know your testicles caught fire (or something similar) at some point during that excursion...

+1 on the Storms.  Been running them on my '05 FJR and SV-650 for three years now and they are a great tire.

Was riding in the rain with another FJR rider and his Pilot Roads were slipping on the same corners my Storms were rock-solid on.

And welcome the FJR owners family.

Pilot Road 2's are very different from the Pilot Roads (just sayin', in case you weren't abbreviating). I was "meh" on the PRs. Love the PR2s. I've had over 10,000 miles on the last two sets, but both of those included significant time on Midwestern interstates (such a sad waste of a good bike). They're dual compound, so if you spend most of the time leaned one way or another, they shouldn't last as long.

And no rubber made is gonna like those tar snakes. Gawd, I hate those things.

Yeah, I've seen the car tire pics. Yechh. There's some general nastiness in a thread on that issue at fjrforum, but the guys who do it are believers. And I've seen it a lot on Gold Wings. Won't happen on one of my bikes unless civilization collapses and there's no other choice.

If you haven't joined fjrforum, you really should. Not nearly as entertaining as this place is. For technical info and a knowledge base on the bike, though, it can't be beat.
